Ford Mustangs lots and lots of Ford Mustang and a good helping of various other old school American muscle even a pinch of Import madness gathered on the grass at a Nampa Id park on June 21, 2008. I joined my roommate as he took his finally repaired and washed Mazda RX-8 out to it's first auto show. I grabbed my camera but wasn't in the mood to take pro pics so just didn't take all the gear this was going to be a fun snap happy weekend day of fun in the sun looking at cars and hopefully hot chicks. Right auto shows have hot chicks right...right? Well this one I can say definitely failed on the hot chick ratio but more than made up for it with some awesome cars to oogle at.

In total there were some 222 registered cars at this years show, the highest turn out in the 25 years of the show. Surprising actually as they thought there was going to be for sure a smaller turnout due to the economy and the cost of gas. In all there were seven states and two Canadian provinces in attendance a nice turnout. While the majority of the vehicles there were Ford Mustangs the show was open to any thing and there were cars there that ranged from old Model Ts and Chevrolet Corvettes to one of the first Smart FourTwos in Idaho (it's been in the show for three years running). There were five cars total in the Import category including my roommate's RX-8 also there was another fellow autocrosser Jonathan and his 2002 Honda S2000. later in the day after the voting had been closed A Honda Civic Si belonging to local automotive photographer Chris Wold showed up for short time. Again showing up late was a JDM Nissan 300zx. Sadly it was rather riced out with the scissor doors, gaudy decals and massively horrendous (including music choice) stereo system. But hey it was truly JDM so it was something totally different and something that I've never seen. What didn't enter the show but should of, in the Import category, was this Yellow Opel GT roadster that we found out in the parking lot.

Speaking of things that I've never seen late in the show a nice Yellow with Black strips Ford GT showed up to wow the crowd (he did win some award too go figure) in the race category. Also in that category was some dragracer drive to the show on drag slicks (illegally I might add) with massive twin air cleaners for god knows what sticking out of the hood blocking what had to be 75% of his view (that just had to be illegal as well). Anyways back to that GT that has been the first time that I've been able to get a good close up look at one. I tried (and of course failed) to race a nice red with white strips one back when they had just come out so I've seen them in the wild just not up close and personal. After that there just wasn't a whole lot of stuff that just jumped out at me as freaking cool as hell really.

Of course the focus of this show was about Mustangs and there were plenty on hand of every type. Scott's dad's Mustang looked really nice out there amongst the many others competing in the same category. There was a few note worthy ones of course from the Ford Mustang GT350H that was 1 of 57 cars made for Hertz rental in a lovely Blue with Gold strips. Lets just say it was worth more than the Ford GT. There was another GT350 but it was a clone. Still looked nice though. Another older interesting group were the two (yes two) Ford Mustang 302 Boss that belonged to a married couple. One complete Restoration and one modified. One of the two newer interesting Mustangs there was a 1 of 2 (I think) Chip Foose Stallion bought I believe to be a daily driver. Next to it was a SuperSnake not sure what it's story was but people were going on about how rare and cool it was. I just thought it looked cool. There were quite a few Saleen and Rousche Mustangs there as well actually but not nearly as nice as the other two.

Of course all good car shows have an awards ceremony at the end and I was pretty bummed to find out that my roommate lost 2nd place to that Smart car by ONE vote. And I didn't vote because I didn't know that spectators could vote. Thankfully our autocrossing buddy with the Honda S2000 won First place. Scott's dad also didn't win but that was some tough competition. That's all the awards that matter to me honestly and with that the show was over and the after show cruise and dinner got running. We didn't head out right away my roommate and I helped his father and the rest of the club members tear down and clean up afterwards and then we headed out to Cheerleaders for a nice dinner.

CHEERLEADERS! So there will be cheerleaders right? Well not really but pretty much that is what it is another Hooters knock off but at least the ladies were dressed in a somewhat less trashy outfit than Hooters. But yeah my roommate and I got there and my day was totally made. Sitting in the parking lost was this nice Porsche 911(996) GT2 just begging to be photographed. I mean most people were going there to look at the Shelby Mustang Gt350E (E for Elenore like the movie) that was sitting out side it's well kept home inside the building. My roommate and I inadvertently walked into the glass garage and got laughed at the hostess but it was all right we weren't the only ones who did that. The food was good the girls were nice to look at and friendly and we had a good time about 6 glasses of water latter. This made for a good end to a long day and a fun time. I just didn't get any pictures of the girls, sorry guys but there are a lot of pictures of the cars just recently uploaded to flickr to check out.
