Weekly Review

It's been a long week and finishing up autocross stuff has found me doing the Weekly Review on Tuesday yet again.  I'll have to get the blog up about on the new car blog soon as well.  The rest of the week was pretty normal though.  Nothing to exciting to mention on my side. Checking out some new Race Queens from after this last round.  Not a lot of outfit changes but some new teams showed up.

So yeah work is still moving along.  Still have water issues, no food issues and of course upper management running around not knowing what to do.  They did just find out about the family who have living there since November of last year and haven't paid but a few hundred dollars on their $20k+ bill.  Don't know how that's going to be resolved but personally I'm happy to have them gone.

This week my grandma decided that she was going to move into an assisted living facility where she knows some people and plays bridge.  So this was more than likely my last week to drive her around and take her grocery shopping even though I was getting used to it at had her little routine pretty much worked out.

Of course my sister offered to buy grandma's car and while I don't entirely mind (not like I have the money to buy it) I really don't want to see my sister trash the shit out of a pretty damn nice car with only 36k miles on it.  Still it's going to be an interesting thing seeing where things end up going or being sold to.  I'll have to call and see if my dad and uncle need any help with anything.

So yeah the weekend rolled around and I did the autocross thing on Sunday in some damn hot weather.  I'm just happy that I had the shade to use and there was an occasional cool breeze to help.  That and lots of water even if a lot of it ended up on my head.  I've finished editing the pictures and uploading the videos but haven't written the blog.  I'll do that after I get done with this one.   From that hot Sunday it looks like it might be cooling down finally.

In any case I did see some cool videos this week (and impressive anime Mardock Scramble whoohoo) and here are the videos worth mentioning.

Race Queens are always worthwhile

Drag Racing RWB's finally on Youtube

This looks like an interesting wire-fu movie

And Mardock Scramble...watched it, it was awesome...damn cliffhanger

Solange Knowles was involved in an altercation with police in Florida, claiming an officer pulled a switchblade on her outside of a Miami Beach hotspot. And so where does the giant banana come in?…read on to find out!

Solange has been venting her anger on Twitter and claims that Miami police have made “false statements” to the media.

The singer took to Twitter to reveal how an officer allegedly pulled a switchblade on her outside a club in Miami Beach on Saturday night.

Solange tweeted, “I have done Nothing illegal, against the law, or anything of the sort,” and added, “I am simply tired of police using arrogance, ego and authority as an offense… I’m only tweeting this to raise awareness. Why won't America embrace the left?

In two centuries, the movement's history in America is plagued by failure. An expert explains why
BY MANDY VAN DEVEN

What has the left really accomplished over the past two centuries? FDR's New Deal remains one of the great American success stories. In the '60s, leftist politics created a massive countercultural movement -- and sexual and feminist revolutions. The civil rights movement transformed both American society and the American soul. But, if you compare the accomplishments of the American left to those of other parts of the world, like Western Europe, its record is remarkably dismal, with a surprising lack of real political and social impact. At least, that's the main takeaway from "American Dreamers," a new book by Michael Kazin, professor of history at Georgetown University, which covers nearly 200 years of struggle for civil rights, sexual equality and radical rebellion. His book explores the way the national conversation has been changed by union organizers, gay rights activists and feminists. He also writes about how their techniques have now been adopted by the Tea Party movement. From Michael Moore to "Wall-E," he argues that, although the left has been successful at transforming American culture, when it comes to practical change, it's been woefully unsuccessful. Salon spoke to Kazin over the phone about the difference between Europe and America, the rise of the professional left -- and why the Lorax is a progressive icon.

Suppose I should come back to the land of the Gravure Idol and visit Japan for this week's Foxy Friday Feature lady.  This week it's the lovely Mia Sasaki (佐々木麻衣) who has just recently jumped into the world of Gravure Idols and Race Queens Campaign Girls.  Mia just started last year appearing in the Weekly Young Jump magazine and has a couple DVDs and picture sets out but after seeing her on Japan Sugoi I figured I'd give her a spot on the Foxy Friday Feature.

Of course because Mia is new to the scene there isn't a whole lot out there for her just yet but I've rounded up what I could so that we can check her out and learn more about her.  You can follow her on her blog I am Mai and also at twitter.  I don't believe she has an official Facebook page at the moment.  Her "campaign girl" gig is being one of the Telegirls for Teleboat Campaign Season 2 and when she isn't doing that you can also find her on various TV programs and on the cover of JLUG magazine.  She even has a small Wiki page too.

Check out Mia's Stats:
Birthdate:  Oct 20, 1988
Birthplace:  Tokushima prefecture
Bloodtype:  O
Height:   168cm (5'5")
Measurements:  82-57-86cm (32-22-34in)
Hobbies:  Volleyball, Tennis and playing the Trombone

Now than for some picture links

X-Idol -- a couple of links
Trend Mailty -- DVD release article

Now for some videos.  Found some on YouTube and Dailymotion (don't forget to search with the family filter turned off [so damn annoying])

The United Nations has called on all sides in the Libyan conflict to prevent acts of revenge. It follows reports both of killings by pro-Gaddafi forces and of attacks on African troops who fought on the government side. African soldiers recruited by Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi have begun streaming home. A ship carrying some 260 migrant worker evacuees has now arrived in Benghazi from the capital Tripoli.

Camila Vallejo's call for better and cheaper education has seen student protests transform into a two-day nationwide shutdown

by Jonathan Franklin in Santiago

Not since the days of Zapatistas' Subcomandante Marcos has Latin America been so charmed by a rebel leader. This time, there is no ski mask, no pipe and no gun, just a silver nose ring. Meet Commander Camila, a student leader in Chile who has become the face of a populist uprising that some analysts are calling the Chilean winter. Her press conferences can lead to the sacking of a minister. The street marches she leads shut down sections of the Chilean capital. She has the government on the run, and now even has police protection after receiving death threats.
