And I didn't care to wait or the better quality versions I grabbed the DVD release and watched it as soon as I could. And I was not disappointed. I enjoyed ever 101 minutes of the movie and I want more in glorious BD quality on the 50in screen at home. So I can enjoy the vibrant colors the kicking tunes and the stunning graphics that take me back and remind of some classic sci-fi animated movies. And don't forget the crazy over the top violence and titties. Not many titties mind you, just enough.
Redline the movie is epic on the eye candy and so so on the story details. A Sci-fi road race with cool tech, magic and some just cool weapons controlled by crazy warlords. A governing body controls a planet hopping race series called the Redline (held once every 5 years) where racers race with old tech machines and there are no rules so weapons are a must. The majority of the movie takes place before and during the big race on a planet called Roboworld that doesn't actually want the race there and is more than willing to make sure the racers don't start the race or leave the planet in one piece. The reason they don't want the race is easy.
The movie's main focus is on two of the racers, the hot chick Cherry Boy Hunter aka Sonoshee and the monster hair-do boy "Sweet" JP JP is the main dude with a funky attitude and a crush on Cherry Boy Hunter and he's also very down to Earth with only a passion to win races. While he tries his best to win races it's his friend Frisbee that insures he doesn't to cover the cost of the cars and to make a bit of money on the side. It's a very unique dynamic that works well in this movie. Because the plot just goes to shit and isn't important at all when it comes down to the Redline Race you forget about the plot and are just a wash in stunning animated awesomeness that will either send you rushing to buy the Blue-Ray or will turn you off because you just don't understand.
Love wins in the end for our hero and his crush and it ends on that note. No literally the two cross the finish line and have a kiss and it ends there. You really owe it to yourself to watch Redline because it is one of those movies that will be on people's must watch lists or most hated lists. Where you place it depends on what you take away from the movie. If you want some sophisticated art house number you'll hate it but if you are looking to be stimulated in ways that you haven't in some time than you love it.
