TO FRAKEN BE CONTINUED! Normally I've never seen an anime that pretty much does what American TV does at the end of the season and slaps a big ol' honkin TBC tag at the end of the show and leave you hanging. But that is exactly what Tower of Druaga does at the end of episode 12. Now we have to wait for some time in 2009 to find out what is going to happen now. Fraken hell that's annoying. That's why I don't like a lot of regular TV they never wrap anything up at the end of the season and leave you hanging hoping that you'll remember what the hell is going on at the beginning of next season. End fraken TBC rant. Begin review of the most awesome as all hell Dungen & Dragons type show ever.

Brief summary: Tower is a great D&D knock off what more do you need to know...well OK. You have a bunch of people hanging out in this HUGE tower filled with monsters. At the top of said tower is a Blue crystal rod that is supposed to grant whatever wish you want. There are two types of people trying to reach the top of the tower to get said rod the military and people known as climbers. So many battles commence against the climbers, military and those ever pesky monsters that seem to take a break during the summer allowing the climbers and military a better chance of reaching the top floor of the tower and the stupid rod.

My Opinion: So what makes Tower so freaking awesome anyways? Well hell the first episode was by in far the funniest damn show that I've seen in some time. It had a ton of inside jokes and plays on Otaku life and fan base. And that was just the first episode. After that it got a bit more series and started off on it's D&D lifestyle with the gathering of the traveling company and a lot of plotting about. Thankfully even with all that it still found time to make with the fun here and there. Two other great and just out and out funny episodes had them doing all sorts of funny things from stepping on little magic marbles that would totally transform the traveling party into various things like an entire 8bit game version of the show to turning the entire group into crossdressers and various other things. The other funny episode was where our poor hero Jil gets trapped in a very video game like setting in order to free another spirit and get a lil' reward to be used later to defeat the big bad meany.

Even the Opening was out of left field which I think confused some as to whether or not this was just a game people played sort of like dot hack or something. I was kind of scratching my head as well about the opening but after a while I didn't think about it and just liked it for what it was.

Sadly it was not all fun and games. Many people die and many friendships are broken but I'm not even going to get into all that as I have to HIGHLY recommend watching this anime no matter what and hey you can right now for free and legally thanks to one of the first collaborations between the anime studio and several streaming media sources.

Of course there should be some interesting DVD stuff to watch for when the DVDs come out so here is looking forward to an American release on DVD as well. I'll be looking for it on Netflix you know whenever. I just hope we see more collaborations like this one in the future as well.
