That was fast. The third movie in the Kara no kyoukai series showed up sooner than I thought it would. This chapter is entitled Remaining sense of Pain and for good reasons. This chapter is set after the second chapter and yet before the first chapter. Apparently it likes to jump around a lot time wise. Hopefully it'll all make sense when it's all said and done but until then I think I'll just go about scratching my head.
Brief Summary: This chapter is more graphic in nature than the second and first chapters respectively. The first opening scene is one of rape and torture. All grit and grime and no pleasantry like the second chapter's beauty before death opening scene. During this scene we meet the main evil force of this chapter a girl named Fujino Asagami who unfortunately is unable to feel pain. During the opening scene she is struck in the back (as we see later) with a baseball bat and her latent power is unlocked. Her latent power is the ability to twist or bend items with her mind. Thanks to this she is able to kill most of the men who were attacking her and she sets off to kill the rest of the men who were attacking her including her once boyfriend (some punk ass bitch who's name I can't remember and isn't listed on wiki)
In comes our trio of supernatural crime fighters Mikiya happens across Fujino after she first attacks the men, apparently they had some history before in school. Anyways he takes her back to his place so that she can shower and rest. Such a nice guy. Fujino complains of her stomach hurting (which turns out to be appendicitis but she believes is a stab wound) but leaves Mikiya's place in the morning and goes out hunting. Well back at the agency Toko is hired by Fujino's father to kill her before she does more damage. Mikiya ends up heading off to investigate Fujino's past where we learn a lot about why Fujino doesn't feel pain and how she is able to bend things with her mind. Shiki though is sent off to bring back or kill Fujino setting up the main battle between the ladies of this chapter.
LET'S GET IT ON! So the main fight between the lovely Shiki with her Blue and Purple eyes and the hurt Fujino with her green and orange eyes (crap I can't remember and I'll have to look again tomorrow for the right colors) is set on a major bridge that gets pretty well destroyed in the process of the fight. Of course Skiki comes out ahead but loses her real left arm (which is why she has the fake in the first chapter) in the process. Fujino of course at this point we believe is dead as we see Shiki plundge her knife into Fujino right as they cut back to Toko and Mikiya arriving at the bridge to find Shiki walking out of the mist. Well come to find out Shiki just cut out Fujino's deseased part and saved her life. Toko and Shiki take off leaving Mikiya to take care of Fujino and us with a pretty desent ending to this chapter.
My Opinion: This chapter so far is my favorite. While I loved the opening of the second one much better than the opening of this one the rest of the third chapter far surpassed the first or second chapter leaving me waiting with anticipation for the other four chapters to come out. I really hope that these movies do get picked up for North American release soon. If not I'll just have to enjoy them however I can. Also one of the other interesting things that I like about this show is the little claymation PSA that they show before the start of the movie. This time it was about not smoking and was pretty funny. Well hopefully the fourth chapter gets here just as soon, until then.
