The second part of Kara no Kyoukai (A Study in Murder part 1) was recently released and I found some time to watch it. I was expecting more of the same like the first part but got some thing entirely different.
Brief Review: I believe this episode was a flash back episode but what it has to do with the over all story is beyond me at the moment. We find two of our characters from the first part back when they were in high school. The main plot follows Shiki and Mikiya's friendship during high school which co-insides with the recent rash of murders in the area that Mikiya's cousin (I think that's what he is) is investigating. We learn of Shiki's split personality and that she may just be the seriel killer.
My Opinion: Wow yeah I started watching this and was enjoying the music and the stunning visuals just happily going along and then...BLAM blood all over the place. Oh yeah I remember what this was about now. It definitely was an interesting start to the film that's for sure. Like I said I wasn't to sure about the whole flash back part as this is what the entire film was about but we did learn a lot about our characters like why on earth does that woman wear a red leather jacket with her traditional dress. Over all this a pretty boring part as not a lot of action happens and even the few murders are shown only abstractly and in small little snippets. I did like the part where she uses the blood as lipstick...that was awesome! There is however a lot of talking but it's probably important to the overall story so this isn't something to skip if you want to follow the entire story but only want to see the action. I was looking at the wiki page for it and it looks like the time line puts part 2 way at the end so I don't know what is going to happen in the next part but it definitely looks chuck full of action and little talking but that's a preview for you.
