Library Wars

Sniffle sniffle, best end ever! Well ok, it has been so far one of the better endings that I've seen lately. At least I think they did a good job of ending it for something that seemed crammed into a small 12 episode season. The pat on the head was just priceless. This could have easily been a longer anime.

Brief Summary: Ah yes what exactly is a Library War anyway do libraries fight over who gets what book or something? Anyways that is what I was thinking when I heard of this show. Just like the book Fahrenheit 451 (which in this anime is almost bible like) though it is a battle about freedom of expression and freedom of speech seen by the fight to preserve books from some lame ass organization that is out to destroy anything that might be harmful to their ideals. Hell it's been so long since I've read that book though I'm not entirely sure that that book is all about anymore. Maybe I should read that again.

Anyways, the anime follows the many adventures and battles that our plucky band of brothers and sisters of the Library Corps have to deal with in order to protect sacred books and art so that people can enjoy them as they were meant to be. Their enemy is the Media Betterment Committee that is out to censor and destroy those items that they deem harmful to the populace. The main character is Iku Kasahara a young lady that was driven to be a part of the elite library corp when a book that she wanted to read was saved by her princecharming. This lead her to work hard to become a member of the group and impress her commanding officer Lt. Dojo who is constantly giving her a hard time. Battles happen, love blossems and wrongs are righted along with some good speeches leaving us with what seems like a really short series but a great ending. My Opinion: This was definitely one of the better series of the season chuckfull of greatness and devoid of lameness. Like I've said before the ending was good but over all the entire series was very wonderful and completely different than what I was also watching. There was a great deal of funny stuff and a good deal of crazy drama and a little bit of fighting even though most of the fighting seemed way to laid out with many many many rules that both sides had to follow which made the war part seem a bit lame really. This is definitely something that needs to be watched at least once so hopefully it makes it to the USA and since it is a Productin I.G. product the odds are pretty good I think. I'd check it out again if I could from Netflix.
