Many African migrants embark on the dangerous journey across the Sahara desert to escape the poverty and lack of opportunity in their home countries for the hope of a better life in Europe. They often have to pay bribes and face rape and other risks along the way. Many of the migrants never make it and those that do can end up in detention camps.
