(This will be the first of hopefully many taglibro (diary) posts in which I talk about my experiences, and thoughts.)
I do not make as many trips to the cinema (kino) these days - mostly for lack of interests in current releases, but also because of changing patterns on my own part. I just don't enjoy the act of visiting the cinema as much as I once did. The cinema experience seemed to be much better in the Philadelphia of my youth.
This is despite even fewer viewing houses there than in my current city of Seattle. Perhaps I'm just having false fond memories extracted from my imagination. Perhaps I'm in denial. Perhaps I'm just too cheap to buy a ticket these days. Perhaps I'm just too lazy to leave the house.
Whatever the reason I'm just not going to the cinema as much as I once did. In past years I went nearly every week. As of the second half of 2010, and 2011 so far, I go every 6 - 8 weeks. I hardly qualify as a cinephile anymore.
But today, appropriately on a rather rainy Seattle day, I went to see "Even the Rain", which if my slowing deteriorating brain recalls correct is only the 2nd film I've seen this year, "Biutiful" being the 1st (I just realized that I'm on a bit a Spanish roll here)…
I general dislike doing traditional film reviews so I'll just say that it was a good film. A 7 out of 10 type film. Worth seeing if it make an appearance at a theater near you. I was also pleasantly surprised by a few interesting trailer proceeding the film (something that has been surprisingly lacking in my previous trips to the cinema). In no particular order:
"The Human Resources Manager"
"Winter in Wartime"
"Of Gods and Men"
