The New York Times paywall model maybe be flawed, but so it is the 'free content' model that preceded it.

Just as I predicted two years ago, the free Web is going bye-bye. The New York Times decision to throw its content behind a paywall (albeit one with more holes in it than Swiss cheese) is exactly what I expected. Without another consistent and significant source of revenue, no company, not even one as big as the New York Times, can afford to give away its best stuff for free indefinitely.
