The second season of K-ON! has long since finished airing.  The girls that we have grown to love have graduated and left high school for their college life.  But don't fear there is a K-ON! movie in the works to fill your moeblob hole with more moe goodness.  This is one of those polarizing shows that the never dull folks of /a/ would always get in an uproar over.  Thankfully I just didn't care what /a/ thought of K-ON!! and I enjoyed the second season.  Moeblob hatters be damned.

The second season of K-ON!! was pretty much the same thing as the first.  5 girls who have formed the band After School Tea Time, their friends and their awesome teacher have fun and cause mischief all while drinking tea and eating sweets instead of practicing their songs at their after school club.  There is of course more plot development, character growth and laughter through out the 26 episode run.

This season the girls go with their teacher Sawa-chan (who is still their adviser for the club as well) to a music festival.  They also star in the school festival's play of Romeo and Juliet and go on their senior trip to somewhere interesting.  A lot goes on during the run of the show and a good majority of it revolves around how Azu-nyan is going to cope with the other girls graduating and leaving her behind at the end of the school year.

Thankfully we know that Azu-nyan will do just fine since she has other friends that will help her.  For me my favorite character is still Sawa-chan.  I don't know why but I really just liked all the times that she would pop into the show and she always added something good to the show.  Although if I had to pick a favorite of the girls Mio is still the cutest but I can't help but enjoy the randomness that is Mugi.  This season she got a lot more screen time and you couldn't help but be enthralled with what she was trying to do. 

Kon! has been picked up for North American distribution through Bandai Entertainment so I'm sure the second season will follow.  I think this is a good thing as this would be a great program to introduce to younger girls as it definitely provides a positive role for girls.  That and it's just a fun enjoyable show to watch.  I look forward to it's NA release.

Miss K-on! and that second season just isn't getting here fast enough for you? Don't worry there is hope and a moe moe release available to you to gush over and enjoy. A nicely done and very enjoyable stand alone episode that does a nice job of giving us all something to tide us over until the second season starts and we can all explode from the Moe Moe overload.

The OVA is titled Live House because the girls decide to attend their first non-school event. They got the invite from one of Ritsu's friends who is also attending. The girls show up at the Live House and talk with the Manager who actually heard from them from another band. The girls are all excited about the idea of playing and are in just total wonderment about the whole process and place. On the day of the event the girls arrive and meet the other bands that are playing and after a bit of socializing and chit chat the girls are able to figure out how to work with the Live House's stuff.

Of course Mugi being Mugi she brought along tea and sweets for the girls and they all share with the other bands. The girls first rehearsal is a bit disjointed and chaotic like they usually are and the other bands lend them their support and the girls are able to get it together. The live show goes on without a hitch and all their friends came to watch them along with their teacher Sawako, who was looking mighty fine for the occasion busting out her old outfits from her days as a rocker.

As it turns out the manager of the Live House and Sawako were old friends and maybe band mates? They are able to share a bit of bonding over the girls. After the show is done they all meet up and head over to Yui's house for New Years celebration and all but Mio and Ritsu fall asleep before the new year allowing the two to reminiscence about the prior year for a bit before they too zonk out. Yui wakes all the girls up so that they can go out to their special place and watch the first sun rise of the new year.

Total Moe Moe overload, however there are no new songs in this episode. So you're out of luck if you were hoping for that. In fact we don't even get a full song when the girls are playing at the Live House either . Kind of a bummer but definitely not a deal breaker. Sawako is of course up to her old shenanigans while trying to get Azusa into a tiger bikini for the new year. She does get her to wear the ears at least, which she keeps on when the girls go to see the new year's sun rise. A very fun little episode that will keep us all looking forward to the next season which can't come soon enough.

Since there isn't any trailers or previews for the new OVA how about the ever popular and fantastic Ending song. Now if they'd only make Figmas of these outfits I'd buy a Mio in a heartbeat, I don't really care so much for the school girl outfit.

What would those who hated K-on! probably watch? One guess would be Hatsukoi Limited. A Romcom with more fanservice than K-on! but then a lot less than Queen's Blade. It's also much more linear than K-on! and the art style is entirely different. Is it better than K-on! well that's just a matter of opinion and here's my opinion. I liked it just as much as K-on! but for entirely different reasons. K-on! was more sweet moe heartwarming with laughs while Hatsukoi Limited was more like reliving your past as a high school kid with all the ups and downs regarding those first tender love moments. Then it tossed in a decent amount of hijinks and humor and a healthy dose of fanservice moments giving you an entirely different but equally enjoyable anime series compared to K-on!

As I mentioned before Hatsukoi Limited deals with high schoolers and middle schoolers as they deal with their first love crushes. Mostly it's about the middle schoolers though. There are a ton of interesting characters so discussing all their little love triangles would take some time to unravel and explain. And I just don't think I can do that here. Even though it's a lot of romance and love triangles the comedic timing helps keep things lite and interesting. I don't think I could of handled it or liked it nearly as much if it just didn't have the gags and humor that are used to break up the overdose of romance.

I would have to recommend (highly) checking it out, at least a couple episodes. I think it's well worth the time. Even though there is a good deal of fanservice in the show it's amazing how little there is in fanmade fanservice material and it was even ignored by fanservice giant Megami as well. I couldn't believe it when I tried finding an image for this blog just how little there was.

Lastly I have to say Hatsukoi Limited is another series that I would like to see getting licensed for the states I believe it would do pretty well and that way more people could enjoy it as much as I did. I tried finding the ending from the show but I could only find static images with the ending song so you'll have to just enjoy the opening instead.
