Weekly Review

Goodbye last week it was nice knowing you. Seems like the hotter part of spring has finally arrived as it's getting warmer every day and the sun is out more than rain clouds. Like always enjoy this weeks cute Race Queen. I know I've kinda slacked off on this blog a bit more than I should have but I really haven't had much anime related stuff to blog about lately thanks to only getting in a couple episodes of anime a night. Next week I'll try to get some more anime stuff posted.

Anyways, on to the weekly review not much interesting happened work was work. Finally sold the exercise bike that had up on craigslist but haven't even got a nibble on the A/C unit though.

We did manage to finally pull the engine out of the RX8 it was just as hard the second time around but hopefully this will be the last time we have to do that since the roommate is going to take a car to the Mazda dealer and have the unbroken engine and new parts installed for a close to factory stock car. That's right no more Turbo. Oh and I was right about the broken part from last time since we found the same part intact and not broken. What does suck though is that some extra parts were bought thinking they weren't coming on the long block engine but sure as shit there are now extra parts. I took a few more pictures of the process again and you can find them here --> flickr. After that adventure I decided I needed to pickup the tools and kind of sort them out. I think I have something like 5 complete sets of wrenches. Two ratcheting types and just a crap load of regular ones. And yet not a good set of pliers anywhere.

Other than that excitement there really wasn't much else going on. Watched the latest F1 race and was disappointed in my fantasy team which didn't make crap for points. It was a pretty good race though. Now there isn't any racing that I'm really excited about for some time.

There was a Mazda meet on Thursday and they all sort of went from where they were to our house so it was a large invasion of Mazda people which was just kinda of strange really as a Ford Mustang and VW Golf showed up as well. Sadly I had to leave for work so didn't get to have much fun with the Mazda invasion force.

So lets see here what video should I leave you with this week?

March 14, 2010 Autocross

It only took me like a week to finish editing pictures and uploading videos from this last weekends Autocross event but I think it was well worth it. Winter racing break is officially over with this the first Autocross event of the year and the first of many events for the upcoming season. Which will now include Rally Cross and drift events. And I'll be there for most of it.

The Snake River Region SCCA chapter had their first Autocross event this last weekend at the Idaho Center in Nampa ID and this first event was an interesting one. For starters it was on the same weekend as Daylight Savings Time so everyone was an extra bit tired for having to crawl out of bed an hour earlier than normal. Second even though it's already the middle of March it sure doesn't mean it's any warmer. It was a cold and sunny day. I didn't put up the umbrella because I wanted to sun to warm me up. My poor hand ached after the event from holding onto the camera in the cold.

I set up my gear for the best video shooting and totally got pwned by the sun since I was an idiot and forgot that the sun would be more to the south than would be good for pictures so I was having some issues with the sun especially since I didn't take the anti-glare lens for either cameras. Hey who doesn't like really shiny spots and harsh shadow.

As for the event itself the course had an awesome layout that was good for just about any car type. There was a huge turn out of cars for the first event with some 80 cars and drivers. Many of them returning from last year with new improvements and running in new run groups so it was going to be an interesting day and it definitely was. Those who graduated from the IMS run group into their respective new run groups showed that they could compete thanks to their time in the IMS class. Some people also showed off their winter down time projects from neon green rims to new suspension setups and wheels and tires.

I was out there all day shooting film and video and ended up with 129 videos and a little bit more pictures.

Special addition. At the end of January there is a HUGE Firearms and accessories Trade Show that features all the new and cool stuff coming out in the new year. It's held in Las Vegas like all good Trade Shows are. That show is called SHOT Show and I've never been to one but it's on my list of things to see before I get to old to enjoy such things. The Shot Show is a great place to find out about new and exciting things coming out of the firearm community the only problem is that this year there didn't look like there was anything just downright...ZOMG! THAT'S F'ING COOL!

This year looked like a good year to expand on all the cool stuff that you can add to to your firearms and some cool gear to keep your ass from getting any additional inlets and outlets. I liked that you can now add a little holosight to the side of your M4 (or similar) to use with the grenade launcher.

The tactical gear is looking more and more futuristic with new face protection plates to be added to helmets to help protect soldier's faces from gun fire. Also new camo patterns are all the rage as well. I was a little disappointed in Magpul since they didn't bring any new cool guns this year like last years FPG but they did bring some cool stuff like their big UniMog transporter which is I guess for sell here. Their Ronin Bike was also there and that thing looked bad ass so they can forgiven a bit for no new cool gun.

Of course what would a trade show be without those lovely booth babes. Though I didn't see anything to spectacular in the that department either. Of course it doesn't help that I like the Asian and there wasn't a single one (minus one Asian party girl) but for Shot Show it's all about the cool guns to look at and I found some good places to look at those pictures. This is a good start to the photos from a guy named SMGLee who takes some dang good pictures for M4Carbine.net. I also found a link to this place that has a flickr account that has some cool pictures also. Then there is this person who is the official photographer for Magpul and they are some fantastic photos.

Check out this leaked video of the Remington ACR that some gun found. Pretty cool.

But even better than that is one of two videos of the Maxim party girls oh yes. You'll have to check out SMGLee's channel for the other one.

All you have to do to get some other great videos is do a search and you'll get a ton of great videos.
