My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute

Since I don't have my laptop for a while and can't really watch anime at work for now I think it's a good time to catch up on some Anime titles that I need to review.  Today we'll be taking a look at Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai (long title is long).  Another one of those typical high school slice of life shows with a twist really.  The twist is that it's not the boy who is a maniacal anime Otaku it's the cute fashion model younger sister who is.  And it's this twist that gets the older brother who really does care for his sister into trouble.

Ore no Imouto was definitely one of the better shows of last season and while it ended after 12 episodes the series is continuing online with some additional bonus endings of the series for fans to enjoy.  The first one just aired yesterday actually but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

The series is about Kyousuke Kousaka and his sister Kirino and their lives as Kyousuke helps his sister hide her closeted Otaku secret.  The odd thing about this is that Kyousuke would fit the normal Otaku role but it's his younger sister who happens to be the otaku in the family made even more so because she is a top fashion model, has great grades at school and is one of the better athletes in her school all while hiding the fact that she loves magical girl anime and Little sister ERO-games.  So it comes as a shock to Kyousuke when one day he discovers his sister's secret life style and she asks him for help.

After he finds out about her secret Kirino uses that to help her out with some interesting life lessons and during these experiences the two grow closer together as siblings and Kyousuke helps her come out of her Otaku shell and embrace a more healthy Otaku lifestyle with friends who also like Anime and Manga.  Kirino is able to publish some of her light novels that she has been working on and even gets asked to make them into an anime as well.  Kyousuke does a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure that it works out for Kirino.  Kirino also pushes Kyousuke to play some of her games as well so that he understands what she is about and that she can also have someone else to play with as well.

But they still fight a lot at home like most siblings would and Kyousuke takes the brunt of the punishment and aggravation from the parents.  In this mix there is also Kyousuke's high school friend who absolutely has a crush on him and he's not really aware of it and this adds another little dynamic to the show.  All in all the show is very enjoyable to watch and will without a doubt be licensed in the states soon enough.  I really did enjoy it that I wouldn't hesitate to rent this on Netflix for sure.   For me it's not a must buy but it's definitely worth a second look.
