The second to last episode for me was Homecoming and if you have been following the none game history or Halo like reading the books you'll have a pretty good understanding of what is going on here and why. This episode is all about the Spartans and is a look at the children who were taken and built up to be Spartans and how they dealt with that fact. This one doesn't have a happy ending.
We know that the children who became Spartans were taking (either willingly from their parents or not) and taken to a secret location to be built up and trained to be the ultimate weapon. Some of those Spartans decided to escape and return to their homes that they were taken from. At this point we follow Spartan Daisy as she returns to her home planet and finds her way to her house.
Finding a young girl who looks exactly like her confined to a wheelchair Daisy is Shocked. Dr. Halsey arrives in time to tell Daisy about the flash clone project to replace the children that were abducted and Dr. Halsey tells Daisy to return to the Spartans. During this conversion Daisy has pointed her pistol at her clone and hesitates to shoot her, she decides to leave instead. The clone stops her and tells her about her dreams of being a strong person able to run and do things and decides to give daisy a little teddy bear on a chain as a gift. The clone doesn't know why she should give Daisy the bear but she knows it's the right thing to do.
Daisy and only one other Spartan return to Reach as the others that escaped have committed suicide after meeting their clones. Daisy's clone is later seen on a death bed soon after as the clones don't have a very long life. We then return to the battle field were we see Daisy fighting along side some Marines in a fight to reach an extraction point. Things don't go great and the Pelican the Marines are supposed to leave on is destroyed while they are waiting for Daisy to reach the Pelican but on her way there she is struck by a Needler and tells them to leave. Since they don't leave the Pelican is destroyed and soon after Daisy succomes to her wounds and passes away.
A while latter another Spartan discovers Daisy's lifeless body and her little Teddy Bear laying in a puddle next to her. He closes her eyes and places her bear in her hands and the episode ends.
DAMN, no happy ending there. This is definitely one of the better but sadder stories in the series of Stories. The animation is good though and since yet again I watched this one on Youtube I'll definitely be looking forward to checking out the better quality when I pick up the DVD (yeah I don't have a BD player yet so I only get to check out the DVD at the moment) later this week.
The DVD and BD are out now. The BD has all the cool stuff and there are two DVD versions one a stripped down episode only DVD and the other one has a few DVD extras.
There isn't a trailer for Homecoming so here is the regular trailer that has some stuff from Homecoming in it.
