Good Smile Racing's Porsche 911RSR

Oh sweet Jesus they ditched the Z4 and picked up a 911 to enter the 2010 SuperGT series! That's what I noticed when I was looking through Danny Choo's Wonderfestival coverage and I spied a 911 (996 body style) in Good Smile Racing Vinyls. So a bit of researching and looking around the interwebs for more info I found out that Good Smile Racing was teaming up with Cox for this years SuperGT racing season.

Good Smile Racing has opened a new site dedicated to the new team HERE and at the moment it's pretty limited on content and it's also not in English (really you would think they would do that since their GSC webpage is offered in both) so it's a bit of a tough read for me. Not only have they gotten a new car but they have created a new Miku Hatsune character as well (or just given her a new outfit really) and this time instead of being a Race Queen like last year she is looking like a cute Pit Worker holding her airgun ready to change tires. She is called Racing Miku BTW.

Like last year fans will be able to help sponsor the car and while the information is pretty limited on that at the moment it looks like we'll find out more on February 15th so keep an eye out for that. Hopefully it will be open to people outside of Japan as well, without having to go though all the hassle of using a third party provider to do so. ARE YOU LISTENING GOOD SMILE RACING!

For those not in the know about the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR Porsche offers up several racing platforms for the professional racer and while Good Smile Racing is using an older model of the RSR the 996 RSR was a very competitive and winning chassis with a huge track record and history of development. So using the older 996 should give Good Smile Racing and Cox a solid platform to build a good racing strategy around. With that in mind it will allow them to be more competitive in the up coming season of the SuperGT than they have been before. You better believe I'll be looking forward to seeing Good Smile Racing out there competing with the other GT300 cars. The first SuperGT race looks like it'll be happening on March 21 at the Suzuka Circuit.
