Onechanbara: Samurai Bikini Squad

What a hoot. Although nothing like my favorite Machine Girl or Tokyo Gore Police Onechanbara is another slice of Japanese gore b-movie goodness. Based off a Japanese zombie hack and slash video game series of the same name it features a lovely lady named Aya who kills zombies with a Katana and wearing little more than a bikini and cowboy boots 'n' hat. In the movie version she's teamed up with a pudgy sidekick and another woman with a bit more clothing on but armed with a sawed off double barrel shotgun which seems to have an unlimited ammo count and never needs reloading. In the movie the plot is simple kill the zombie hords while looking for the Doctor who created the zombie mess in the first place and his number one sidekick Saki who is Aya's younger sister.

While this zombie slasher movie isn't any where near as bloody or gory as the other movies I've mentioned it's still pretty much Japanese gore at it's best. So if you're looking for that Hollywood big budget hack and slash you can just move along as this is definitely not it. But for a Japanese b-movie it's actually not that bad a little bit better than I've seen in a while but there is some stuff that even I can't overlook and that's mostly the unlimited ammo sawed-off double-barrel shotgun that never needs reloading and apparently only shots slugs.

I also don't like the sidekick dude just because he's not really even needed. They could have stuck with just the two girls and a revolving cast of soon to be dead extras. Although he sort of redeems himself towards the end when with the help of a zombie kills the doctor.

What I did like, besides Eri Otoguro running around in a bikini, are the fight scenes which I thought for a Japanese b-movie were very well done minus the added cgi effects when Aya and later Saki do their power-up stuff (every time they did that power-up stuff I wanted to sing the theme to Power Rangers) later during the final battle between the two. Sadly the second string girl Reiko was killed in the second to last main zombie fight. I was really hoping that it would be the two ladies who would survive instead of Aya and Mr. Tubs. The best though the was the end fight between the two sisters. In the end it was an OK Japanese b-movie that was fun to watch while not giggle funny like the gory craziness of Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police I definitely didn't think I wasted my time with this rental from Netflix.

You can check out the trailer for the movie here.

BUT WAIT IT HAS A SEQUEL TOO...just found this looking for the trailer for the first one and I didn't even know about this. Looks good and I'll have to find this one as well.

Robo Geisha

Lets take a short little break from the anime reviews to look at another feature film from those guys who made The Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police and the upcoming Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl. This time around it's a Sci-fi feature called Robo Geisha an equal part Geisha and transforming, sword swinging Robot. And what is that an entire army of Machine Girls in there too! The trailer looks interesting to say the least and even has bleeding buildings (that has to be a first).

If you're a fan of those Japanese gore B-movies like The Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police I imagine this will be on your to watch list (it's most definitely on mine) and you more than likely know and understand that the movie will be lite in plot and heavy in bloodletting and insanity so it'll be all good. For those that don't they will of course not understand why you have streams of tears running down your face while you laugh so hard at such a gory movie. Sadly I haven't seen one of their trademark awesome movie posters yet for this movie so instead enjoy the flashscreen from the website.

Enjoy the awesome gorefest trailer.

Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl

Sweet looks like another morbidly blood gore feast Japanese movie from the same people that brought you the likes of Tokyo Gore Police and The Machine Girl. It's another bloody gore infused tail of love gone wrong as a Vamp and a normal woman fall in love with the same person. Vamp girl slices and dices normal girl up and normal girl is repaired by crazy scientist father to create Frankenstein girl and the battle royal starts and body parts and gallons upon gallons of blood will be spilt.

Probably chuck full of stupid cgi and fake laughable body parts flying about and of course pretty bad acting but damn you know it's going to be laughably funny to watch if you've seen any of the other films done by the same people. In any case this is absolutely on my to watch list because I know even though it will probably suck in the whole story/plot part I won't care because I'll be to busy laughing my ass off at the absurdity to the whole damn thing. Oh and from the commercial it looks like there will be some cute gothloli ladies in it as well. That's never a bad thing well until the gore makeup and blood gets involved. Here's the commercial.
