Hyakka Rouran Samurai Girls was one of my favorite series of the Fall Season.  It was action packed, hilarious and had a good amount of fanservice that had a unique spin on the magical steam to cover the naughty bits. While some will say oh it's just another lame fanservice harem show it's actually not.  At least I don't think it was.
Samurai Girls is a series that is set in alternative present day Japan where they won WWII with the help of super powerful female Samurai warriors.  And Feudal Japan style is still very much present with a twist of state of the art technology.

I loved the different art style that you can find through out the series and the black steam and ink blots where a nice twist to the standard fair of cover-up steam that you'll find more commonly in most fanservice shows.  While the school harem action parts will seem clichéd to most it's done in a way that doesn't make the man male lead look like a total idiot.

Muneakira is the main lead and he acquires his harem by shear luck.  As a student Samurai he discovers that he is able to create Samurai Warriors by kissing the girls in order to seal the pack.  Thanks to this power he get's his first and most powerful Samurai Warrior named Jubei who also comes with a soft and loving alter ego.  Then it's the little smart girl and finally he makes a pack with his childhood friend Sen.  Now that the Harem is built it's time to rock the story.

Apparently Sen's brother the School's Student Body President has been busy kidnapping the siblings of former Samurai Warriors and using them to create a cloned Samurai Warrior army.  But he has a reason and that reason is the ultra powerful demon lord who is about to be resurrected.  Muneakira and his little harem fight with Sen's brother and his own personal French Samurai Warrior.  That battle ends and the groups work  together to fight the demon lord.

I skipped a lot in there mostly the comical craziness that abounds in the series and is taken up mostly by the odd girl out.  I call her love hammer and she provides a good amount of the comical hijinks.  This is probably the biggest saving grace of the series.  I lot could be added to character development and plot development but you honestly don't mind that with the comedy and yeah the fanservice doesn't hurt either.

This was streamed on Anime Network in it's censored form and you can still watch the first two episodes for free.  I'm hoping that it'll get an uncensored DVD release in the near future.  I've also watched the ever so fun uncensored specials as well and those are nice but I still enjoyed the ink blots.
