At less than 14 minutes long it doesn't take long to tell the story of how 18 year-old Izumi Harnet became the crazy butt kicking Alchemist master that the boy's learned from. Izumi on her quest to learn Alchemy heads North to Mt. Briggs to find the legendary Alchemist Silver Steiner. She finds the old man in a pub chilling out. After a short conversation that is made slightly difficult thanks to the old man's bad hearing the man tosses a hunting knife on the table and tells Izumi that she must survive one month on Mt. Briggs before he'll take her on as an apprentice.
Izumi heads up there and is soon outmatched by mother nature and is captured by Briggs Soldiers. She beats up the soldiers and takes their food and is able to survive on that for a few days before she is back to a point where she's feeling down and out. She realizes, like the boys did, about the meaning of alchemy and the "all is one and one is all" mentality. Soon she is out and about beating the crap out of the wildlife to survive and does a bit of roughing up the soldiers that find themselves in her path. After the month is over she walks back to the same pub with a bear over her shoulder and tells the old man that she's ready to begin her apprenticeship.
Well it turns out that he isn't actually Silver Steiner (who died a while ago) but his older brother Gold Steiner and he'd be happy to train her as a fighter... Izumi doesn't care for that much and beats the crap out of the old guy as well. The Briggs Soldiers are a little confused as she leaves the bear and the old man knocked out on the floor.
After the credits we get a short little story about how Izumi met her husband Sig Curtis. While on her trip back down from Mt. Briggs with the bear on her Shoulder she literally runs into Sig who was leaving his shop. And it's love at first sight.
I have to say for the two characters this really funny take on a small snap shot of their lives was a great way to tell their tale and I rather enjoyed it. I think the funny way of them doing the special makes it a little more interesting than if they had a hard edge look that Izumi and Sig now have.
