I do like SMGs that's no lie and the Brügger & Thomet MP9, or Steyr TMP before Steyr went belly up and B&T bought the rights, is one of those odd little gems that stand out in the crowd. While the full kitted out Select-fire model is awesome it's not for civilians. Civilians instead get the TP9 model which is a semi-auto only version that also replaces the folding stock with a sling. However I'd just pay the extra $200 to register it as an AOW or SBR so that I could ditch the stupid sling and replace it with the folding stock.
B&T did a few other mods to the TMP which in my opinion was a good thing. The TMP had a molded on forward grip which is a handy thing to have but B&T did away with that and instead replaced that with another picatinny rail system so if you wanted to you could add the forward grip or replace it with any number of other tactical accessories that you could want. The forward grip is a good thing but if you could also add a weapon light at the same time that would be handy as well. The top rail is good for adding any type of open red dot style weapon sight. And then if that's not enough there are also the side rails as well.
It's a 9mm only SMG and with it's closed locking bolt firing system it becomes a low recoil and accurate little gun and from having man handled one at the local gun store several times I really wish I had the $1000 needed to take it home and then the extra $200 for the tax stamp. I'd really like to try it out at least.
Here's a video clip of the select-fire model
