After a short break from bi-weekly Halo Legends release we got the next installment last Saturday. This episode was the first part of Origins another two part episode that will hopefully be longer than 20 minutes total for both parts. Origins is the entire story from start to finish. The Story is told by Cortana our ever favorite digitized AI who likes to back seat drive poor ol' John-117.
In this first part Cortana tells us about the history of the Forerunners starting some 100,000 years ago. It turns out that the Forerunners first encountered the flood on their home world when it invaded. The Forerunners dealt with them like an infestation and were soon on the verge of total annihilation so fearing that the flood would entirely take over they decided to completely destroy them and their food source. Thus the Halo's were created along with the Ark. All life was saved in digital form to be reborn and the Halos were used to wipe out every living thing in the universe. This also meant that the Forerunners were also destroyed. Having totally destroyed the flood the Ark set about repopulating the now barren planets.
While fans of the game already know a great deal about this thanks to Guilty Spark in the game it's nice to see a complete telling of the history and a first look at the Forerunners even though we only see them in combat suits. This episode was done by Studio 4˚C so you know this one looks good but I still watched this one on YouTube so it didn't look as good as it could have and with the random crashing of Firefox with YouTube videos lately it wasn't helping at all. Thankfully though the roommate and I finally set up the wireless Internet for the XBOX and downloaded Waypoint so not next week but the week after I'll be able to check it out normally for a change. Hell ya I'm looking forward to that.
