Initial D -- Returns

Looks like Initial D will soon return with an all new Dub and the return of the Eurobeat soundtrack. FUNimation rescued Initial D from licensing purgatory recently and is in the process of redoing the English Dub along with retaining the original eurobeat soundtrack. This time around FUNimation is re-releasing the following stages: First Stage, Second Stage, Extra Stage, Third Stage, and Fourth Stage. The only problem is what about the other stages and is there still a demand for Initial D stuff?

What do mean by other stages you ask? Well there is the second Extra Stage, unless that will be included with the extra stage, but I doubt it. There is also the two Special Battle Stages which were re-animated battles from the previous stages with new battles added that were only in the manga. Those I believe were never licensed since they were newer releases that happened after the fist time Initial D was licensed by Tokyopop. It would be nice if all of it was released but hey at least we are getting Initial D again right and with a new dub that will hopefully be more I don't know not nearly as retarded as the original one was. It's been some time since I watched the first and second stage but I remember just how wacked out the dub was so hopefully not only will that be fixed along with maybe some consulting of professional drifters and racers for correct terminology as well. In any case I'm happy to see it getting re-released so that I can finish watching the series as well I'd like the other stuff as well but hey I'll take what I can get.

I just hope that FUNimation realizes that there is a much large audience for this series than just regular anime viewers and markets it accordingly instead of just sticking with ads in Anime and Gaming magazines they should spread out a bit to tuner magazines and websites and what not. At least what I would do along with licensing maybe Wangan Midnight as well that would be a great thing to get to release it after re-releasing Initial D. But that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.

And to kick it all off how about some Initial D battle action to get you the mood...

Such a speedy week yet again. At least this week nothing terrible happened at least nothing terrible that relates to anything I'm interested in any ways. So yeah of course this is a break week before the next major autocross event which will be in Hailey ID the at the end of the week it also means I'm only working three days this week. SWEET! But lets go back to this last week. Mostly a eat, sleep and work week there was at least a few things that I got done this week. But no new photography so this week it's another hottie Race Queen because there was a bunch of racing going on this weekend (and no I didn't watch any Super GT stuff, for shame I know).

I know I punched my first class one way ticket to hell this week. Last day of work I come into work and I see a couple school buses, thinking, "great tonight's going to suck." Well turns out it was two different cross country track teams and both were all girl teams. Nice right, well it gets better one of them was a Catholic School that's right Catholic School Girls...drooling yet? Well it gets even better, because the girls were in the pool when I got there and while I try not to look it's hard not to since we have windows overlooking the pool from the front desk area so any time you look up you're looking out the windows to the pool. So I had Catholic School Girls in swimsuits and while I was still trying not to look one of them came out of the pool in her swimsuit to ask were the bathroom was and damn if she wasn't a cute Asian girl. Oh yeah an Asian Catholic school girl in a swimsuit...yup I definitely got that first class one way ticket to hell punched that day because I checked that girl out and it was worth it.

Dirty old bastard moment over the rest of work was pretty tame and nothing to exciting happened other than that, pretty much the same at home as well. Did some cleaning and what not but that's pretty normal. Played through Halo 3 ODST on Co-op and while the game is definitely different and in some cases better than the regular Halo 3 I as well as everyone else in our house was just a bit annoyed that the four player Co-OP mode cold only be used with another XBOX360 and game. FUCK we thought you could do it in the split screen but I guess that's what we get for not making doubly sure that we could do Co-Op and Firefight in split screen mode with four players. Also What the hell is up with no real flashlight damn it some of those places are really damn dark and hard to navigate without a real flashlight.

Now I'm just looking forward to next week a nice three day work week and a fun day of autocross in Hailey, ID. So yeah I might really have a few days off of blogging because I'll have no computer for a few days. I do have some interesting stuff coming up for the blog this week since I've been able to finish a few more anime series and have found some interesting stuff to blog about. And just for a fun thing to post how about some lovely Aki Hoshino video goodness.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 2

Tired of Clone Wars reruns? Have you seen the same handful of episodes enough times to mute the sound and recite the entire episode's dialogue by yourself word for word? Are you excited to know that the next season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will start next Friday on October 2, 2009. I know I'm excited for the next season it looks like it's going to be kicking it up a notch this season and get a bit more intense and darker than the previous season.

But before that it looks like Cartoon Network will be having a mini marathon of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on this Sunday (Sept 27, 2009) with previews of the next season as well as what looks like some other things as well. OK, OK to me it looks like a really lame Star Wars fan made music video with lightsaber guitars. While I'm really excited about the new season I'm rather played out on the old season and really don't want to watch the mini marathon myself just for the little bit of new stuff they'll have for the next season and who knows maybe they're just showing the trailer for it as the preview. That doesn't mean that I haven't seen some new stuff like this 2nd youtube trailer.

So this is what I gathered from watching the trailer. It looks like to me they might actually have a season long plot instead of random episodic battles on random planets with no clear direction in the story. It'll be a nice change from last season, that's for sure. While it looks like it'll be mostly about the main bad guy Cad Bane the Bounty Hunter, who was introduced at the end of the last season, it will also toss in some good oldies like a shape changer bounty hunter like the one from the second movie and ZOMG! Mandalorine warriors, oh hell yes. It also looks like they'll be tossing a bit more relationship stuff at us as well including a possible past relationship for Old Ben. But I did like that little bit of foreshadowing with Ani and Padma when he sees her hugging another guy. Actually it looks like this season will be all around darker and more intense than the previous season which is another great thing maybe we'll see some good saber battles where something other than the robots get a sliced and diced. After all none of those bounty hunters are in the third movie. I'd love to see for a season ender Cane's hat smolding and cut in half floating to the ground with his body slumped on the ground in the fuzzied out in the background and the doer of the deed will be Ahsoka. Well I can wish anyways right.

Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress

Arriving in Japanese theaters on November 21, 2009 (and hopefully on DVD three months later) will be the first of two Macross Frontier movies. The first movie, Macross Frontier the Movie: The False Songstress, will be a recap of the 25 episode TV series with a little bit of new animation and new songs tossed in for good measure. Of course this would be a movie that I would very much go to see in a theater and I'd even break my own rule and go to even a fathom event if this was released in the states.

But lets face it, it's probably never going to be released here in the states if the current license holder of Macross and Robotech doesn't get off it's lame lazy ass and do something about it. Honestly I don't see that happening since I haven't heard anything at all on the TV series being licensed and it was the 25th anniversary project. That of course doesn't mean I'm not going to see it, I'll just have to wait for the DVD to be released and fansubbed. That's what I'm looking forward to and hopefully it doesn't take as long as the Gurren Lagann movies seem to be taking which the second movie seems to be taking forever to be released on DVD. Anyways back to the Macross movie. The other day I found out that they had released a trailer for the movie and I wanted to check it out which I did and then I found something really cool that made my poor little fanboy heart twitter with excitement as I found an English trailer for the movie and at first I was like "OH HELL YA!" but than I found out that it was just a fan made (albeit a freaking awesome one) trailer and nothing more than that. And I'm going to post both of them for you.

Here's the official trailer for the new movie:

And here's the fan made English trailer:

Time of Eve

In a sea of Moe, fanservice and violence it's nice that once in a while there is a great anime that comes out of left field with none of that and yet can be the most entertaining and enlighting stories of the year (or in this case two years). This time that anime is Time of Eve a story mostly set in a little out of the way cafe in Japan in the near future. A cafe that doesn't discriminate against humans, androids or robots and everyone is treated equally that cafe is called "The Time of Eve."

Streamed online by Crunchyroll here in the states Time of Eve is the first anime that I thought was good enough to purchase from an online store coming out to some $15 for the six episodes I think it's a pretty good bargain considering how good I thought this anime was. Sure I wish I had a handy retail DVD version but I'm happy with my downloads as well. This is definitely the future of anime I think.

Anyways back to Time of Eve, In the near future androids usually recognized by their glowing halos (status rings) are often seen as little more than house hold appliances but many are becoming more individualized and are testing the boundaries of Isaac Asimov's "three laws of Robotics. The main story revolves around the many patrons of the cafe "The Time of Eve" and their stories. The main protagonist Rikuo and his friend Masaki discover the cafe after following Rikuo's home android to the cafe they are introduced to the one rule of the cafe and that is that no one can discriminate between humans and androids.

They find the cafe rather odd since you don't know who is an android and who is a human as the status ring of the androids is turned off and the door automatically locks for two minutes when it shuts not allowing anyone to follow people back to their homes protecting their identities. The boys soon become regulars at the cafe listening to people's stories and becoming friends with the patrons of the cafe. It also shows Rikuo's maturing and growing to accept the androids including his as individuals with their own dreams and wants instead of seeing them only as tools.

Time of Eve has a deep and meaningful story and the animation is just spectacular looking it's not nearly as great as Makoto Shinkai's work like 5cm per Second but it is dang close. It just has to be seen to be enjoyed and it's a great way to break people into anime who might not enjoy the glits and glam of the more violent or fanservice rich stuff that is easy to find. Even though it says Time of Eve is a first season I don't know if there will be a second season I can hope and wish like everyone else because you know I'll be right there waiting to see it too.

Here is a trailer for the first act:

Autocross Sept 19, 2009

It's been three months since the last time I was out at one of the autocross events thanks to a broken car a broken computer and moving in the middle of the summer so it was a nice break to get out to another event this last weekend. It was a today event but because I had to fix my car (headlights went out) and my spotter was sick we only went to the event on Saturday. Of course that day was cut short as well.

Because of miss-communication my ride and spotter ended up needing to leave early to help one of our friends move but I was able to photograph and video just about every car that was there on Saturday at least once during the event. And what an event. It was like the cones had procreated like wild bunnies as there were just a huge horde of cones out on the Expo Center's large parking lot. More than I've ever seen out there before. So it was a large course with some nice corners which made for a fast course and some potential for spin outs which happened quite often in the morning session while everyone was getting familiar with the course. Although it seemed like I was always filming the wrong car when that happened.

It was nice to get out there and do some filming and photographing work even though out of the some 200+ pictures I took there was about 80 that looked any good. You can find them here at flickr of course and when I get my videos uploaded tonight I'll update this blog with a link to the videos as well. What's good is that in two weeks time we'll be heading out to Hailey ID for a new event on a small airport parking lot with no light poles no drainage bumps and just a nicely paved wide open space to have a huge track and I'll be out there to get it all on film and video. So I'm really looking forward to that event.

Videos are now live on youtube total of 49 vids.

Hey look at that it's another end of the week and for a change this week had some fun and excitement in it. Unfortunately it was also full of some sad moments as well. I already blogged about the lose of Felicia Tang and now I've read that they have positively identified the body of an Asian man discovered at the base of a Mountain to be that of Yoshito Usui, the creator of Crayon Shin-chan, who went missing last week. Yet another great creator taken all to early he'll be dearly missed. In honor of his memory I've posted an image of good ol' Shin-chan. But enough about the sad stuff how did my actual week go. Well thankfully nothing to bad has happened this week and sure enough it actually wasn't the usual eat sleep work week.

The only really sucky thing that has happened to me this week was that my high-beam switch burned out earlier this week which caused my headlights to not work at all on Friday. While that might not be a huge problem for some for me it's a major problem since I'm driving to work and home in the dark. That meant a trip out to Jalopy Jungle was in order to find some parts. $20 later and I have all the parts I need to fix the problem I just haven't gotten to it just yet. I got pretty lucky with the parts as I found ones that are the same color as my interior of my car and they were both in the fist car that I looked at. I'll have that fixed by tomorrow morning so I'm not worried about.

The fun stuff about this week was finally getting out to another autocross event. Haven't been to one of those in some three months thanks to just a bunch of stuff that has been going on. It was an awesome course layout and I'll be blogging about that later in the week when I get the videos all uploaded.

Although the rest of the week was the usual eat, sleep work the autocross helped break up the humdrum and made the weekend actually worth looking forward to for a change. Didn't care to much for the broken switch but hey if that's the only thing that broke on the car this time and could be fixed for $20 I think I made out pretty well this week.

So now for something entirely unrelated to any of that but still freaking awesome how about a 5 minute preview of the Halo Legends anime. First aired on Spike TV during a special for the new Halo 3: ODST game enjoy this pretty awesome clip and I hope it lasts.

RIP Felicia Tang

I didn't expect to be blogging about something like this but I was surfing some Asian hottie blogs and found out that one of the classic Asian Import Car Show Hotties was killed(supposedly) by her boyfriend this last week. Felicia was one of the first Import Car Show babes to hit the scene in the late 90's and I was instantly smitten by her gorgeous curves and like most men did my part to download everything that I could of hers so it came as some shock to find out that she was murdered last week. This makes the second adult model/actress to be killed(supposedly) by their former reality TV show boyfriend/husband in as many months.

Felicia Tang (Felicia Lee) was a well known soft core adult movie actress, nude model and Import Car Show Hottie. She also had roles in several mainstream movies over the years. She was one of the original girls of the Import Car scene who got me hooked on Asians in the first place and while my tastes have changed to more traditional Asian ladies I know somewhere in my burned DVD library is a massive collection of her modeling stuff from her defunct website. She seemed to retire from the entire scene a couple years ago and now her star has been retired forever. Felicia and her gorgeous curves will be missed by many.

From what I've read around the Internet this is what is being reported minus the constantly calling her a porn star part which she wasn't. Felicia Lee's body was discovered Friday, Sept. 11, in her apartment badly beaten and strangled to death by her boyfriend Brian Randone. Brian Randone, a one time Reality TV contestant on Fox's "The Sexiest Bachelor in America" and preacher, is charged with Torture and Murder in her slaying and is being held on a $2mm bond. This tragedy seems all to similar to the other recent model/reality celeb murder that happened only a short time ago and maybe Brian should follow in Ryan Jenkins footsteps and take care of himself. If not I'm sure he'll have an oh so pleasant stint in the big house where I'm sure he'll meet plenty of her fans. It also looks like Tila Tequila got off lucky this last week as well with her little incedent with her boyfriend. Hopefully she doesn't become the second classic Import Car Show Hottie I'm blogging about who's time has come too early.

Here's one last look at the gorgeous Felicia Tang in action.

Shangri-La

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, just haven't seen anything worth posting about and I haven't finished anything lately until last night when I finally finished Shangri-La the latest anime with character designs from one of my favorite illustrators Range Murata based on a light novel that integrates both sci-fi and supernatural elements. I was sold on the anime the minute I found out that it was going to feature character designs by Range Murata and while I wasn't entirely impressed with the first few episodes by the end I was rather glad that I didn't drop it like I was thinking of doing. Shangri-La also marks the first series that I've watched entirely on Crunchyroll (well OK so I couldn't wait another 3 days for the final episode and I didn't want to start the subscription thing so I downloaded the last episode).

Shangri-La is one of those series with a lot of stuff going on, so much in fact that I just don't really know where to start my review. Or how to condense it all down into a relatively short review that encompasses everything about the series that makes it well worth watching. There's humor, action, romance and some series WTF moments. It also can be said to have a cautionary tale of what might happen (well minus the supernatural stuff of course) when global warming becomes a commodity to be traded. We already have a bit of global warming trading going on in real life as it is.

At the core of the story is Atlas a giant super-fortress of sorts that is controlled by the main baddy Ryoko who has to be the worst villain ever, a seriously sadistic bitch that played people used people and didn't care at all for anyone other than her own power over people. Thankfully in the end she gets what's coming to her rather poetically. Atlas is also the heart of the supernatural part of the story. Built on top of a long buried shrine that houses a mummified corps with a spear in her chest the original builders of Atlas began sacrificing young maidens to the goddess in order to keep Atlas from shaking apart. Hundreds of children were killed to become vessels for the resurrected goddess. Atlas is also the main prize for the terrorist group metal-age a group of citizens of Duomo, a city surrounded by an invading jungle, who want to make Atlas their home as well. In my opinion one of the larger WTF moments was when Ryoko massacred an entire girls youth detention center just because she was finished playing warden.

The leader of Metal-age is a young teenage girl who uses a unique sci-fi boomerang as a weapon. At first she doesn't want to be the leader of the group but during the series she goes through some hardships and see that she does need to become the leader of the group and once she does she becomes a very capable leader who at the end bests Ryoko and saves the world from total destruction. Thankfully her, her bodyguard Momoko the transvestite and the three old Otakus of Akihabara provide a lot of comedy relief through out the series otherwise I think it would be a bit more gloomy and not nearly as fun to watch.

There are a ton of other people including Karen the computer wiz with an innate ability to manipulate the carbon market but ends up as just another Ryoko pawn. Then there is Mikuni and her bunch Mikuni is a little girl with the ability to tell when someone is not telling her the truth. When that happens she is able to simply crush the person's body and kill them. She's really bratty until Miko comes along and befriends her and settles her down but once again Ryoko has an easy time of manipulating her when she takes Miko away from Mikuni and kills Miko by sacrificing her to the goddess. In the end Miko saves Mikuni and takes away her power to kill people and gives her the gift of being able to go out into the sunlight. And there are just a ton of other characters that round out the story each with their own important part to take in the story.

I couldn't believe they crammed so much stuff, rather well actually, into a 24 episode series without seeming rushed. The plot develops rather nicely at a good rate without giving things away early or being able to be seen from a mile away. I never thought once, "oh I saw that coming." To accomplish that several important questioned where simply not answered at the end and while it really wasn't important to the overall story it would have been nice to have them answered anyways. Overall though it was a good series with some great art and a well done story. It's also one that you can watch free and clear with a guilty free conscience thanks to Crunchyroll. No idea though on a DVD release.

You can check out a trailer for Shangri-La here...

Onechanbara: Samurai Bikini Squad

What a hoot. Although nothing like my favorite Machine Girl or Tokyo Gore Police Onechanbara is another slice of Japanese gore b-movie goodness. Based off a Japanese zombie hack and slash video game series of the same name it features a lovely lady named Aya who kills zombies with a Katana and wearing little more than a bikini and cowboy boots 'n' hat. In the movie version she's teamed up with a pudgy sidekick and another woman with a bit more clothing on but armed with a sawed off double barrel shotgun which seems to have an unlimited ammo count and never needs reloading. In the movie the plot is simple kill the zombie hords while looking for the Doctor who created the zombie mess in the first place and his number one sidekick Saki who is Aya's younger sister.

While this zombie slasher movie isn't any where near as bloody or gory as the other movies I've mentioned it's still pretty much Japanese gore at it's best. So if you're looking for that Hollywood big budget hack and slash you can just move along as this is definitely not it. But for a Japanese b-movie it's actually not that bad a little bit better than I've seen in a while but there is some stuff that even I can't overlook and that's mostly the unlimited ammo sawed-off double-barrel shotgun that never needs reloading and apparently only shots slugs.

I also don't like the sidekick dude just because he's not really even needed. They could have stuck with just the two girls and a revolving cast of soon to be dead extras. Although he sort of redeems himself towards the end when with the help of a zombie kills the doctor.

What I did like, besides Eri Otoguro running around in a bikini, are the fight scenes which I thought for a Japanese b-movie were very well done minus the added cgi effects when Aya and later Saki do their power-up stuff (every time they did that power-up stuff I wanted to sing the theme to Power Rangers) later during the final battle between the two. Sadly the second string girl Reiko was killed in the second to last main zombie fight. I was really hoping that it would be the two ladies who would survive instead of Aya and Mr. Tubs. The best though the was the end fight between the two sisters. In the end it was an OK Japanese b-movie that was fun to watch while not giggle funny like the gory craziness of Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police I definitely didn't think I wasted my time with this rental from Netflix.

You can check out the trailer for the movie here.

BUT WAIT IT HAS A SEQUEL TOO...just found this looking for the trailer for the first one and I didn't even know about this. Looks good and I'll have to find this one as well.

Halo 3: ODST

Next Tuesday the latest installment of the popular XBOX360 game HALO will be unleashed upon the masses. This go round you wont be playing as the Master Chief instead you will be taking over the role of an ODST trooper as you fight your way though an onslaught of Convenant forces as you try to find out what happened to your platoon. As a huge fan of the series I'm very excited to see a new entry into the game series and even more I'm excited to see something entirely new and different offered in the game.

What's cool is that the release promo video for the game involved a live action video that just screams awesomeness and makes just about anyone who's seen it scream out for a full length feature film that was in the works until it was scraped due to legal issues.

There are several new features in Halo 3: ODST that make the game really interesting to check out from the four person co-op play which will be good for me and my friends who seem to always get killed by the one friend now we can all work together to wack the covenant forces instead. That's for us the coolest part but the new player height and vulnerability opens a new window into how things will look and act the new heads up display looks cool and the ability to jump around the story line is a really nice feature.

It's all exciting for me and I'm looking forward to playing it soon and while we're at it I've seen some newly released Halo Legends posters which I've posted one example of and you can find the rest here.

Here's that awesome live action trailer for Halo 3: ODST

Hey look at that it's another end of the week review. And yet again it was another easy going nothing happening week. Well at least nothing major or exciting happened. Standard work sleep go to the lame ass monthly work meeting completely outside my sleep schedule stuff. One thing I wanted to get done this week though was to finally photograph my new Otaku corner setup. Which I did, and is why there isn't a lovely Race Queen greeting you this week. You can see the rest of the pictures @ flickr and that was seriously all I did this week. Actually I guess I also picked probably the last of the fresh vegies out of the weed infested garden that we have.

Dance in the Vampire Bund

Loli Vampire? ZOMG! Pedobear is amused and scared at the same time. From what I've gathered she just looks young and is in fact not Loli...whatever. When I first heard about the upcoming anime Dance in the Vampire Bund from Sankaku Complex my immediate reaction upon reading about it was that there was no way that anime would make it to the States. Then came the trailer and while it re-affirmed the notion that this would never see a State side release it did pique my interest and I think I'll at least check it out
Of course then this week I discovered that there is already 4 volumes published of the manga the anime was adapted from. So maybe it could get a release seeing as how there is the whole Vampire movement going on at the moment. So yeah it looks like our main character is a Vampire Princess, who's gone and did a silly thing by paying off Japan's debt in order to purchase an area for Vampires to come out of the closet so to speak so that she can foster a peace between the human and vampire races. Of course there are people on both sides of the fence who would like that not to happen so enter the Vampire Princess number one protector a werewolf boy who's in love with the Princess. Now just add some serious action and blood letting and after actually watching the trailer for this it just so happens to look pretty interesting even if the girl is flat-chested and looks like she's only 10 years-old.

If it does see a State side release I have an idea that there will be some heavy editing to keep the loli nipples out of the picture.

Here's the aforementioned trailer...don't blame me if you turn into pedobear after watching it.

Asura Cryin'

Finished the first season of Asura Cryin' last night and I'm looking forward to the next season since nothing really substantial was resolved in the last episode. Sure enough Asura Cryin' is one of those unfortunate anime series that got lost in the shuffle of moving and my issues with the computer and car but no fear I'm getting on the ball finishing up some older series as best I can and in the case of Asura Cryin' I'm glad I got it finished before the next season starts.

Asura Cryin' is kind of a middle ground anime for me it wasn't the best of the season by far but by no means was it terrible either it was just middle of the ground good. It had an alright plot that just didn't seem to go any where for several episodes. There are a lot of un-answered questions and at the end while we sort of find out some new stuff nothing is resolved or explained really. We do find out rather sadly that the girls in the mechas can only survive for so long before they use up all their soul and disappear.

Ah yes girls and mechas that appear out of the shadows. Basically that is what the premise is behind this show toss in some demons for good measure and you have yourself a pretty different anime harem series. It all starts with a boy and his childhood friend turned ghost arriving at a new school full of interesting people.
He soon arrives at his new room where he finds the President of the Chemistry club and a friend of his brother. She leaves in his care a silver suitcase.

From there all sorts of mischief befalls our young hero and his ghost friend. In the case is actually a black goo like substance that joins with the ghost and the young hero to become a mecha like creature that rises from shadows when the hero calls for him. The mecha is powered by the ghosts actually and there are several of these mecha machines running around the school along with various spiritual superpowers as well. And when it comes time a little further into the story to introduce the handful of villains who are to wreck havoc on our hero's life and his friends we get wacky little fights that go no where and in the end it's apparently all because of the hero's brother that we are in this mess and we just don't know the truth behind it all but we have a little less than two years to find out as that's when the end of the world is coming.

OK so there is a lot to like about the series it's fun some of the characters are more interesting than others personally my favorite is the Chemistry Club President who is actually part cyborg with implanted weapons on her arms and legs. But really it's just a handy all around good waste of time. The animation quality it descent the mecha designs are pretty interesting but somewhat look out of place looking a little too CGIish. The action sequences are pretty impressive and it also has a fair amount of fanservice and laughs to round it all out so I'd suggest checking it out. No word on a NA license yet but if there is it would absolutely be worth renting.

Here's a trailer for the first season

Porsche 911 Sport Classic

Every now and then the Porsche Exclusive division releases a very limited release Porsche into the market. With limited numbers and a hefty price tag the new Porsche 911 Sport Classic is the new jaw dropping example to be swept from the showroom floor to be hidden away in dark garages most likely never to see the light of day let alone a track. Oh yeah let the Porsche 911 fanboys start to droll. I know I am.

Hopefully I win the lottery right now so that I can pony up the close to $250k price tag for one of the only 250 examples of this rare 911 specimen. Porsche Exclusive just didn't do a paint job and add some bolt-ons to a regular 911 C2.

No, in fact the Sport Classic is a showcase of innovations (which may or may not find their way to other production cars) including a new duel bubble-top roofline, a new front lip, a wider rear track (she's got some lovely hips on her yes she does) and, something that just grabbed a hold of me the first time I saw it, the return of the ducktail from the old Porsche 911 RS 2.7. I guess there are also some fuchs inspired rims which honestly I could just as soon pass on. It also only comes in one color in and out. All 250 cars will come with a new color called Sport Classic Grey (it looks like primer grey to me) and the interior will only come in a dark brown color called espresso. The Ducktail and the Fuchs inspired rims give it the classic name and to make up the Sport part of the name Porsche was able to squeeze another 20 some horses out of the engine to give the 3.8L NA engine an output of 403hp.

While I like lusting after this mighty 911 example I have to be a bit pissed off. Lets face it It's an awesome looking 911 for a non Turbo or GT car but it simply sucks that it's limited to 250 examples that many will never see the light of day (959 history repeating itself) as collectors will scoop them up and hide them away in private collections never to see the light of day let alone a track. But we can all dream and hope. I hope some one busts out a 1:18th diecast version and that the tuner market will respond or Porsche itself with a Ducktail option. That and maybe beefier hips on the regular cars would be nice as well. Oh and lets not forget the awesome domed roofline. I'm sure that would be nice for taller drivers with helmets.

We also have this amazing video to drool over as we dream of owning one.

Happy Labor Day

Hope you are all enjoying this fine Labor Day holiday. The last hooray of the summer so to speak. That's what's happened to the Labor Day Holiday anyway it's become the unofficial holiday of the end of summer. Sure it had some deep meaning and important meaning some time ago but now it's the last three day holiday of summer. The last time to really get out and enjoy the last bit of summer before fall closes in with it's cold and wet weather.

Of course with the end of summer and the Labor Day holiday it also brings with it the start of the football season the start of the fall TV lineup not to mention the fall anime lineup as well. In any case Summer is over and fall is here and I couldn't be happier. Well I could be if I didn't have seasonal allergies... Any ways enjoy the last unofficial day of summer and soak up the sun while you can.

No holiday present this time :(

Weekly Review

Hey it's that time again for another weekly review of the oh so exciting...er not so exciting week of my life. Yup another rather boring and mundane week which on one hand is nice but on another hand it is just mundane. So since it was mundane you will of course get another lovely race queen image which I found another source for besides Scanlover forum.

Looking back at this week the most imprortant thing that I did was hang up some of my pictures finally after working on organizing and cleaning up the garage so that the other roommate could clean up and organize some of his stuff that is in the garage so that we could have a two car garage again instead of a single car garage with a bunch of stuff in garage. Still can't park two cars in there with the extra Mazda RX-8 transmission sitting on the floor but that will be taken care of shortly. I was even able to mow the lawn this week as well. I find it's amazing how fast our lawn grows.

I did get one of the HDDs that I got back set up as an external backup which is nice but I need to get off my lazy butt and get around to actually setting up the other HDD and return my temporary HDD finally. I even got some more of my diecast cars cleaned up so you could say that this week was a cleaning week of sorts.

Work has been working out OK which has allowed me to watch a bit more anime than I have been able to in the past which means I'm finally catching up with some of the older series that I haven't been able to finish yet.

One of the different things that I did this week was tried to fry up some squash and zucchini in some Tempura battery. Why? Well we have that stuff just popping up all over the place and I figured I'd try and do something with it. Well since it was my first time I found out that the smoke alarm is actually wired into the power which is a good thing and a bad thing and I also found out that the roommate can sleep through the smoke alarm. The fried veggies did actually turn out pretty good had to add some seasonings to make them really good but in the end I made a huge mess of the kitchen burned my self a couple times and in the end made a pretty good snack.

With that it was the end of the week and I find my self writing this review not exactly a waste of a week but still nothing all that fun and exciting, maybe next week.

Dogs: Bullets and Carnage OVA

A post-apocalyptic world with violence, mayhem and just a touch of psycho scifi makes up the world of Dogs: Bullets and Carnage a 4 episode OVA series based on the manga of the same name. The series revolves around four main characters who have their own story told in each of the episodes. All four stories loosely tie into each other as the characters cross paths on their own journeys to find what they are looking for.

This OVA series really is like opening four separate windows into an unknown world where you can take a little look into the crazy drama filled lives of four separate people in that world as they go about their journey to find what they are looking for.

The first window opens into the world of an old retired hitman as he tries to redeem himself by settle his grudge against the person who killed his lover. The killer was his own apprentice who in the end is mortally wounded by another hitman. This episode gives you a bit more background as to what is going on compared to the next one.

The second window opens into the world of an information broker with a bad smoking habit one that finds him being a crazy gun nut if you keep him away from his cigarettes. This story is just about a picture taken by the one eyed information broker and the lengths the mob boss will go to to get it back. While the most action filled it was the least interesting plot wise.

The third window opens into another world of master and apprentice this time the apprentice is a young female with no memory of her life prior to parent's death. Somehow the girl survived the killings and is taken in by the sword welding hitman and taught the ropes of being a killer so that she can take revenge for her parent's murder. This is the story that I like the most of the four as it gave reasons and a good enough of a back story to make you interested in what was driving the characters to do what they were doing.

The fourth and last window opens into a world of a lone drifter looking for a way into the underground to once again exact revenge on those that did him harm. On his journey he encounters a struggle between a young woman and a couple guys at first he ignores it since it's none of his business until the girl's miniature wings are exposed. After rescuing the young winged girl they are ambushed at his apartment where the girl is taken back after he is seemingly killed. However, that's not the case with an ability to regenerate and return from the dead he once again sets off to rescue the winged girl and take his frustrations out on the mob boss. He drags one-eyed cigarette guy along with him as back up and easily rescues the young lady.

With that the windows close and you are left to wonder what exactly it is that you've witnessed and how things will turn out as many questions are left entirely unanswered and leaving the viewer confused. Was it worth it to watch yeah it was OK the animation was pretty good and the action sequences were done really well but it's seriously hampered by the story telling and the emo drama. If it was freely streamed (legally of course) I'd say go for it watch it and decide for yourself if you liked it or not but otherwise this was a pretty mediocre series that can just be skipped entirely.

Here is a preview for you:

Fall 2009 anime season update

Wait there's more? Yes there is indeed more anime coming out this fall season that wasn't on Chartfag's fist version of his chart (which at the time of this posting still hasn't been updated). Mostly OVA series but there are a handful of new shows as well. Moetron however, seems to have a much more complete list of shows (although not laid out in a colorful and pic heavy way as chartfag) and it's from there that I found the OVA releases and a few movies which don't matter for someone watching fansubbs as we have to wait for the DVD releases (something maybe I'd like to see in these updates movie DVD release schedules) in any case here is the rest of what I'm looking forward to in fall 2009.

Lets beginning by looking at some of the other shows that will start airing this fall that piqued my interest but were not included in the first fall 2009 anime season blog.

KIDDY GiRL-AND: I was a huge fan of the original Kiddy Grade series and was looking forward to the second season only to be disappointed when I found out it was scrapped then this came along and I was excited again. I've already blogged about it when it was first announced by now I'm happy to see it actually on the schedule.

Now it's OVA madness time as there are several new and returning OVA series going on this season.

TO: There seems to be two episodes of this awesome looking scifi space OVA being released on the same day I don't know if that's because they take a look at both sides of the story which in my opinion would be an interesting story what the the deal is but it looks way awesome. They have a preview on their page so check that out.

Kanokon: Haven't had enough fanservice in your anime diet yet well Kanokon once again comes to your rescue and delivers the fanservice in spades with an all new OVA series. However, it's only 2 episodes long. Link goes to the OVA trailer.

To Love-Ru: Yeah I'm a sucker for fanservice too and taking over for Kanokon after it's 2 episodes are over is yet another OVA series of To Love-Ru but seeing as how the manga was cancelled recently will this get the axe as well? Time will tell.

On the movie front November will see a release of the first Eden of the East movie and finally the Macross Frontier movie as well. Looks like the fall season will be very full of interesting shows to watch. And I'm sure I'll pick up or drop things as the season goes.

Elly Tran Ha

Hi! I'm Tran "Elly" Ha and I'm a super cute model from Vietnam and I've just recently began blogging and posting on forums this summer. Well OK I give up of course I'm not Elly Tran Ha or Tran "Elly" Ha but just like a ton of other dudes I've been rather enchanted by this lovely lady in the recent month. It's been hard to miss her on 4chan and the Internet lately as she seems to be being posted every where. Anyways I thought I'd find out a bit more about her, or at least maybe find some more pictures or just maybe ones with out those annoy copyright/site tags on the pictures.

After seeing quite a few posts of her pictures on 4chan this last week I decided to do the cyber stalker thing and try to dig up any info I could on her and I'll tell you it was a rather fruitless endeavor since I didn't turn up much at all. One source does give us her vital states and informs us that yes indeed she is jailbait:

Real name: Tran Ha
- Nick name: Elly
- Blood type: A
- Networking: Mars
- Date of birth: 06-08-1993 (pedobear warning)
- Height: 168cm (5'5")
- Weight: 47kg (101 lbs)
- Measurements: 88-58-90 (34-23-35)
- Location: Ho Chi Minh
it also gives us an address to a yahoo profile but when I click on it all I get is redirected to my very old yahoo profile. Iz a sad pedobear.

Other blogs and forums mention that she is a blogger with her own sexy pictures and scandals however, just where that blog is or what scandals they are talking about is beyond me as I couldn't find either. That might be because some are getting her confused with another Vietnamese hottie by the name of Thuy Top from this blog post which references this blog post. Either way Elly Tran Ha seems to be an enigma at the moment with just a bunch of websites posting the same pictures over and over again with little to no information about her at all. What I really hate about some of those sites is that they are placing their own site tags on the images which honestly is very annoy especially in the case of hihihehe.com.

What's more sad though is that many commentors on blogs and forums automatically assume that she is a tranny because she is cute and from Vietnam even going so far as to say "they do some fantastic photoshop on those bikini pictures because there just isn't anyway to hide the bulge in some of those pictures." Wonder what she has to think about that all actually. I've pretty much concluded my cyber stalking but will most likely keep an eye out for any new posting about her. In the mean time enjoy this little present that I found along my cyber stalking journey.

An updated collection on rapidshare of some 500 Elly Tran Ha images.

Super GT round 4: Sepang

Just a few months late with this review of the fourth round of the Super GT which was held at the rather interesting Sepang circut in Kuala Lumpur. So I'm not going to do a lengthy review since lets face it you could have ready just about any number of sources already on the race. No instead I think I'll look at the choice bits and pieces that were out there.

The Super GT race at Sepang is the notorious for being the hottest race of the season where the teams have to do more battle with the hot weather than with the other cars. Cooling the drivers and cars down is a huge challenge one in which the Nissan GT-R cars are working to include A/C in the cars. However, this year seemed to be not as hot with rain clouds threatening above.

With one obstacle down the cars headed out to do battle but not all of them made it to the starting line. The pole leading Motul GT-R developed transmission problems and had to start from pit lane and dead last. Those on the race didn't exactly get a good start either. With everyone bunching up into the first corner it gave the GT500 winner the advantage that he needed to get out ahead and stay there the entire race. The Hasemi Motorsport GT-R won the GT500 class easily. While the Odd ball prototype APPLE Shiden thing fought his way through the pack to take the GT300 win.

While the race was pretty mundane and just uneventful for the most part it was the Honda NSX cars that did the most battling. At the beginning of the race the Rockstar NSX showed some great talent fighting it's way up to 2nd place until it was punted off course by the Motul GTR sending the NSX way back to 12th place a sad end for a good day of racing. The NSXs wouldn't be denied this race though as three of them were battling for 2nd and 3rd positions with the Keihin NSX making the most of the race and some rather well done passing in the corners. Fighting hard to finish in 2nd place with the Arta NSX just behind it for 3rd place.

The GT300 race was a bit more interesting but not by much. The pole winning S Road Z started the race looking good and holding on to the lead for some time before it was eventually overtaken by the Weds Sport IS350 who was overtaken by the Shiden. More interesting than that was that there as a Lamborghini running in the top 5 positions. Amazing since most of the time the end up out of the race or way at the back of pack. I wish they would get a little more coverage than they do but that means they need to step up their game and get higher up the leader board. Another interesting thing was a new car in the GT300 series racing only in this race was a new Mosler MT900R from Thunder Asia which was doing great up until I believe some issue developed with car allowing it to lose several positions rather easily and then sending it to the garage to be looked at. Several other cars also went to the garage with issues one of them was the Eneos SC430 was headed in there early on losing several laps.

With that another round of the 2009 Super GT season is over and I'll hopefully get to the 5th round tomorrow.

Check out the spin of the Rockstar NSX:
