Yes we're back from Seattle and although we got a bit lost (several times) we did survive and brought back both great memories and sweet swag. We left Friday morning on time and made our way to Ontario, OR, to pick up snacks and get gas. The drive to Seattle was pretty uneventful save for the creepy dudes at the fast food joint we stopped at for lunch in some podunk Washington City. It was also nothing but farm land until we got closer to Seattle at which point it turned into lush forested areas that was just breathtaking.
Because we left pretty early we did end up in Seattle at the tail end of rush hour so decided to stop off and check out a store I wanted to look at called Kicks Hobby Japan since I had directions right to it we didn't get to lost looking for it. We just didn't see it the first time we walked by it since it was tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. Kind of a hole in the wall anime toy store. Lots of Gundom stuff and some other cool retro stuff. I picked up the Revoltech Gurren Lagann and a Nendoroid Petit figure that turned out to be Asakura (bad luck holds out and I get a bit player) which turns out to be pretty cool actually for such a small lil' figure. But anyways it was a cool store with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They were even watching Code Geass R2 so that was pretty cool. Anyways if you're ever in Seattle and need an anime toy fix Kicks is a good place to stop by and check out. After that we walked back to the car and decided to check out the mall where we parked but there wasn't anything to interesting there.
Now here is were things went crazy and we got way lost on our trek to the roommate's uncle's house where we were going to be staying during our trip. Lets just say it took us a long time to get home for the night but once we did we were treated to some really good Chinese food. Our hosts told us that it was the local Chinese dive place and definitely not the best Chinese food in Seattle but at that point it was still the best that I had ever eaten. Tells you something about Idaho Chinese Restaurants I guess. In any case we were finally settled in for the day and resting up for a very busy Saturday. We also noticed that while we were driving around that Seattle is definitely the land of the STI as there were a ton of them driving about (along with tons of Nissan 350z, BMWs, Porsches, and everything smug) and it's definitely not a place to own a manual car if you need to drive around downtown.
