Iron Man is the first of many Japanese Animated comic properties to fit the TV screen and while we have several variations of Iron Man back here in the states the Japanese version was a bit different to say the least. If you're a huge fan of the comic than I can safely say that you probably wont like it when it gets dubbed and aired on G4 later this year. But if you don't really care for that it's not horrible.
Sure a lot of people didn't care for the end look of the Animation style and the show wasn't anything like the long trailer would have made it out to look. Still the look wasn't that bad and I think it will work an American audience.
But really you'll have to come into the show not expecting something from the Iron Man franchise as this story is based on an entirely unrelated story line that finds Tony building another ARC reactor in Japan to provide free power.
But of course things don't go quietly at all for Tony as he soon has to suit up as Iron Man to take on some robot who is out to destroy the ARC Reactor or something to that extent. Now that Robot is part of an organization called zodiac but that's the least of his problems. Nope the Japanese are working on their own Iron Man suite and it's stolen by a member of Zodiac. That member turns out to be the guy who helped Tony develop the first suite when he's kidnapped and almost killed and the start of the entire series. Tony thought he was dead but nope not dead and he's joined Zodiac to bring and end to Tony and his weapons.
Of course that's not the end all either. Turns out the director of Japan is behind it all and has developed a HUGE Samurai looking Iron Man suite and takes over Japan and it's revealed that the "love" interest for Tony is actually also a member of Zodiac she just didn't know it and when she comes around she sacrifices herself to prevent the ARC reactor from being used as a weapon. Tony is able to destroy Zodiac and is cleared of all wrong doing in Japan and everything goes back to being normal.
Personally I didn't mind the show at all. It was a nice and neat little story line that had a start and ending that worked. The Animation isn't bad but it's not typical Japanese Animation. Even Wolverine made a Cameo appearance
