Hell Girl

Started Hell Girl because we got the first disk from FUNimation's Operation Anime for the club and since I liked the first disk I ended up renting the rest of the series from Netflix. While it took a bit of time to actually finish it thanks to Netflix's retardedly low amount of anime dvds to rent out for some odd reason I entirely enjoyed Hell Girl and thought it was a good series to watch even if it did take a good half a year to finish.

If you belong to an anime club and you are not part of Operation Anime than you need to check it out as it's a great way to check out a lot of anime titles from FUNimation for free and if you see something you like it's fairly easy to check out the rest of it. Anyways on to the series. Hell Girl is a quasi-horror series dealing with revenge and sending your hated enemy to hell in-exchange for your own soul when you pass-away. On the side of that is a reporter and his daughter who become entangled in the goings on of Hell Girl because the daughter is somehow linked with Hell Girl. While the reporter runs around trying to prevent the people from sending people to hell his daughter doesn't understand why people shouldn't be allowed to do it since they deserve it. That is until about the end when an entirely innocent person is sent to hell for no reason that she realizes that maybe it's not a good thing.

While the series involves the reporter and his daughter along with Hell girl and her helpers the series is mostly episodic with a new story each episode until the very last couple of episodes that tie all the loose ends up by explaining why the reporter and the girl are connected with Hell Girl in the first place.

While a bit older and the first of three seasons I enjoyed Hell Girl and look forward to maybe the other two sessions perhaps. I liked the art work and the stories are well played out because yeah sure the people are evil (for the most part) and you could easily see sending them to hell there is always an out that honestly you don't need to send the person to hell if you just talk to some one else to help you out. So there is that.

Thank you FUNimation for giving MoNAC the first disk and getting me interested in this series. But a huge screw you to Netflix for being lame shits who don't care for the anime watchers with extremely low DVD quantities more than 3/4 of my anime queue is in very long wait statues at the moment.

Anyways enjoy the trailer below:
