Apple Vol 1

An apple a day keeps the doctor away. An old wife's tail for sure and of course has nothing to do with today's Apple. I speak of the Korean anthology manga (manwa, what ever you want to call it) collected works book much like Robot that is simply called Apple. Trust me searching for the book was a pain because of the name. Type in Apple into a store's search engine and be dumbfounded by what you would find. In other words not the book. Asking about it at a store same problem. Sir do you want a Korean cooking book on apples? Uh...no damn it.

After a long time I finally found that Barnes and Noble had it in stock a couple months ago by searching with the publishers name Udon Entertainment instead of the book's title and ordered it post hast with a bunch of discount codes that brought the price down below $25. After seeing samples of the work I really wanted to check out what the Koreans had to offer in the large over sized colored manga collection genre and see if it was as good if not better than Range Murata's Robot.

Yeah so I've actually had it for a while and I've thumbed though it a few times looked at the stunning (and it is stunning and awesome BTW) pictures but I just haven't really had a chance to sit down and read it properly yet. So while the pictures are great I'm sure about the stories. In any case I figured I can still blog about the thing because I found out recently that the second Vol will be out soon (for these books soon is a relative term) some time in December (they say) while the next Vol of Robot will be out sometime in March (was supposed to be out this last June the slow pokes). And I wanted more people to know about these two great books and it also got me to thinking that I best be getting to reading the first Vol of Apple now dang it before the second one shows up.

To be honest Both Apple and Robot have a lot in common and while Robot has more stories and Apple has more stand alone pictures they both are worth picking up if you like checking out some fantastic colored samples of work by some of the better artists from both countries. Apple is a bit more expensive than Robot but it also has more pages too so the price is worth it. I just wish they would get them out sooner or at least when they first say they are going to be released. Anyways here is the supposed second cover for Apple Vol 2.

Christmas Wish List

Keeping with the Holiday theme for the day... Don't we all remember thumbing through those big huge Christmas Wish List catalogs and looking at all the cool toys that we wanted Santa to bring us when we were kids. Well even though we grow up we still have those Christmas Wish Lists (which when not filled turn into things to get when I get my tax return) any ways seeing as how tomorrow is Black Friday and the official start of the Christmas shopping holiday. I thought I'd post up my insane laundry list of a wish list both the real and the VERY WISHFULL thinking of ideas.

Wishful thinking
Porsche GT3RS in black with orange accents
All expenses paid trip to Japan with tickets to car races
Aki Hoshino -- I told you it was wishful thinking didn't I.

The real list
Gun Safe -- really I need one
portable shooting rest/bench -- so we don't have to rest the rifle on the Outback.
tools -- you can never have enough tools (dial caliper, torque wrench, breakerbar and others)
aircompressor -- for blowing up girls' skirts...lol no not really
Camera batteries for the camcorder -- must have for autocross one battery just isn't enough.
Camera battery grip for the Rebel XT -- just a must have item really
50mm fixed focus lense for the Rebel XT -- would be a handy lense to have
Superwide angle lense for the Rebel XT -- wouldn't have to rent lenses as much
SDHC in something large like 16gb perhaps for the camcorder -- again must have for Autox
Porsche Essence cologne -- it's out now at finer retailers actually
Canon Flash and IR flash trigger -- more studio lighting and what have you
Camera case for the camcorder and other camera gear. -- One case just isn't enough anymore.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Today is a day to give thanks for all that we have and enjoy in life our friends our family and everything else that we may take for granted. It's a day to sit back relax and have a good time with our loved ones as we enjoy a fantastic feast of food and the many football games and cable channel marathons of everything else.

May you all have an enjoyable and loving day with your friends and family.
Yeah yeah I know stereotypical Native American hottie image may or may not be appropriate but I couldn't find any moe anime girl dressed up as a turkey so this will have to do.

Farewell Opus....AGAIN

Looks like one of my favorite Sunday morning comics has become part of history once again. That's right Opus has left the building (Sunday funnies) yet again for greener pastures filled with dandelions and a comfy old couch.

My obsession with Opus started back in the 80's when the comic was called Bloom County and ran as a weekly strip in the newspaper. I got many laughs from the misadventures of the gang in Bloom County and was sad to see them go for the first time in 1989.

Only to see them return months later in the Sunday only version called Outland where I enjoyed the many misadventures of the gang once again. Outland lasted for 6 years before it to found it self disappearing from the newspaper. All though college I was left without a funny penguin and an amusing cat to make me laugh on Sunday mornings. I made up for the lack of Opus by looking for every published book and movie that featured the big nosed funny guy and more times than not turned up empty handed due to those horrid words..."out of print."

Then in 2003 the great Berkeley Breathed came out of retirement published another collection of Bloom County/Outland/Opus Sunday comics much to my delight and I found out that he was even returning with another Sunday only comic strip called simply OPUS. With a turn of the gang from Outland I was once again laughing about the misadventures of a large nosed penguin much to my own amusement I'm sure. I was just happy to see that lovable funny penguin back once again and enjoyed reading the Sunday comics again for the first time in a long time. Only it just recently came to an end again (Nov 2, 2008 was the last strip) and I'm left wondering if I'll ever see that penguin again. That's a lot of agains isn't it oh well, at least I can enjoy Opus when ever I want to now digitally here and if you've never read Opus and want a good laugh than I highly suggest checking it out.

Real Drive

From the same people who brought you the Ghost in the Shell franchise comes another great scifi anime series. Real Drive a SciFi series set not to far in the distant future on an artificial island that is developing many of the new technologies for the new world from the "metal" to artificial weather particles that can control the Earth's weather. The "metal" is like a cyber gate waythat allows people to escape the real world for a artificially created net world like what you would find watching GitS. In fact, I think Real Drive can be considered the beginning of the GitS world.

In that artificial world things can happen that lead to problems in the real world and those problems are investigated by the main group of characters who belong to the Electronic Investigation Services (or something like that). You can read up on the characters on the wiki link but I will say that Holon is the best cyborg ever and for the most part my favorite character of the show. Although I have to mention that while many people on picture boards and else where complained about the girl's figures (full figured girls were prominate) I think it added just a touch bit more reality to the series after all not every person in the world can be a stick figure with DD breasts.

As for the story line it does keep you engaged and interested with a well developed plot that is more talking and thinking than crazy action scenes it still pulls you from one episode to the next. To me it felt a lot like Moribito in that manner. Not to say RD doesn't have it's share of action to liven things up a bit but it just doesn't rely on that action to keep you watching and none of the action is in your face bloody violence either. There is always a purpose and reason to the action. As far as fanservice goes (I mean the girls do run around in very short skirts after all) there isn't all that much even the pool scenes are tame compared to other series.

With all that in mind Real Drive is a great series for those who like a little bit more meat on the bone and who like to enjoy something that isn't just brain dead action, fanservice and empty plots. It would be a great starter anime for those people who are not interested in a lot of action. I used to think GitS was the best way to introduce people to anime but Real Drive takes it's place hands down. Even though I haven't heard anything about it being licensed yet because it is a Production IG product I believe that it will be licensed soon for the North American market but I don't see [Adult Swim] picking this one up as it's way to smart for them or honestly some of their audience it seems sometimes. I would like it if we found it on the SciFi channel as I think it's a great fit for their market and audience.

An entirely uneventful week. I'm being totally serious one of the slowest none event weeks of the year. I did use that time to organize my image folders to find suitable HOTD content and will be doing an entire week on the lovely Hwang Mi Hee followed next week with an entire week of Aki Hoshinho another lovely lady. Oh I haven't actually talked about the ad down on the bottom right for Absinthe yet have I. Well apparently if you leave the companies ad banner on your webpage for a month you'll receive a free absinthe spoon (a $9 valueish) and then if you leave the ad there for an entire year they will send you a free bottle of their absinthe. For a free bottle of Absinthe (not cheap stuff) for no work at all, why the hell not. Honestly as it is I'll probably get the free bottle of Absinthe before I reach $100 on adsense and get a check from Google. But then I'm not really doing this for the money otherwise I'd really be doing this blogging thing differently. Anyways if you want to try out the absinthe ad banner your self you should check out their webpage here for more information. It hasn't even been close to a month so no spoon for me yet but once I get it (if I get it) I'll definitely post about it.

I did take advantage of the deepdiscount 25% discount sale this week as well since I had a bit extra cash handy and ordered 2 DVDs from them as I couldn't really find anything else in stock that I wanted. Those should be here week after next. I ordered a couple older anime tittles the original Blood: the last Vampire and Kite Liberator both great films and definitely looking forward to the Live Action Blood movie and the much wanted sequel to Kite Liberator when come out. Also since I had a discount on ebay I also ordered the original and uncut DVD of Kite and Mezzo Forte. I've never seen the uncut versions but I've heard plenty about them to know to get that version instead of the normal release version that you would find at Best Buy. And while I was on ebay I also ordered a set of Gurren Lagann magnets as well. So it will be an interest haul for me in the next week that's for sure.

One last thing I did find an umbrella holder that I can use to attach my Tein Umbrella to a light stand to use as a portable shade device while out filming things under the sun next year. Now all I have to do is pick up some light stands and I'm ready to rock next year. That's it for this week next week is Thanksgiving and Black Friday so that will be an interesting time for family followed by that one crazy day of shopping hell, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I'll be heading off to my aunt and uncle's for Thanksgiving lunch/dinner and family time but I'm going to be missing Black Friday which is just fine by me.

Since I can't find a suitable image for posting with this blog have an extra image of Hwan Mi hee.

Yoko+Ammo=photography fun

Since it's beginning to look a lot like Winter I was thinking of starting a winter photography project to get a little bit better at shooting smaller objects with my DSLR and to put that photography cube to good use. So I was sitting there thinking about what to do the other day when I happened upon a great idea. The lovely red-head from Gurren Lagann Yoko and ammo big massive huge ammo.

That's what my winter project is going to be about Yoko surrounded by ammo and guns since I haven't seen a single image of her with anything like that but to me it seems like such a natural setting for her. I went about searching for a suitable Yoko figure and picked up the Revoltech Fraulein version from ebay (don't worry it's legit) and searched about for some suitable ammo to pose her with. It actually took longer to find the right kind of ammo for the project than to find a suitable Yoko. I was finally able to find a place that was selling inert (dummy, non functioning rounds) 20mm and .50cal ammo at a price that wasn't ridiculous. So with everything here I took a quick couple snap shots and posted one to flickr so you can see what I'll be using. Then I started messing around with Posing Yoko with the ammo and it turns out this is going to be a larger handful than I thought. It's going to be a fun project and as soon as I figure a way to get Yoko to stick to the smooth shiny metal rounds I'll start taking pictures. In the mean time I might just do like Danny does and bring Yoko along to the range for some quick little snap shots here and there.

My Ferraris

Actually it's more like "My Pictures of Ferraris" and while it's not nearly as many pictures as I've taken of Lamborghinis but it was also the start to the madness. One of the first real photography jobs that I did was actually of a Black Ferrari Testarossa which was actually a surprise to many people in Pocatello seeing it. It turned out to be owned by a gentleman who was the local video game coin machine operator in town and I offered to make him some posters of the car if he'd let me shoot the car.

I had him show up at ISU for the photoshot which turned out pretty good expect for I didn't notice the large garbage bin in the background and that kind of ruined a few pictures but it was still fun though and from there it was a few trips down to Steve Harris Imports in Salt Lake City to snap some pictures and a missed opportunity to go for a ride in a 360 but that's life. Then came college graduation and a move to Boise where I didn't think I'd get that many more opportunities to photography more Ferraris or Lamborghinis even

That wasn't to be true though as Boise has an annual Italian Car and Motorcycle show which I posted about earlier and have attended in the past before. So I've had my far share of photographic experience with Ferraris even though I do like lamborghinis just a bit more. '

Like a lot of my older film photography I really want to find the negatives and give them a go at rescanning them as these current images that I have are pretty bad resolution wise, not to mention crappy looking. I'd also like to photography more Ferraris as well and one of these days I'll probably get that chance.

I'm also wondering if I should upload some of my random car lot pictures that I've taken some are OK some are just bleh and others well I don't know but I've played around a lot photographing cars at dealerships for fun even though I haven't for some time but since I probably wont be taking any more car related pictures for the year at least I can keep adding pictures. Now I'm just rambling.

Farewell sweet Autox

Well just until the season starts anew in the Spring. That's right the autocross season is over with the last event being held last Sunday. And what an event it was. The last event was held in the large parking lot at Expo Idaho and the course layout actually took up the entire parking lot this time. This of course proved a pain for a lot of the drivers in the beginning as it was easy to get lost until you had run the correct course a couple of times. It was also a pain for me as well during filming but funny at times because if you watch some of the videos you'll see on screen something like a Miata that sounds like a Viper. Then there's also me just messing up with the camera and playing with the zoom later on in the day.

The early morning first runs were pretty exciting due to the cold asphalt and cold tires but I didn't film any of that because I went on a couple ride-alongs with some folks. The first was with Jonathan in his Honda S2000 and while I had a real fun time and thought it was a blast even spinning out on the second to last corner Jonathan didn't like it to much. Oh well he did much better later on in the day when it got warmer. Then I went with Leo in his Mazda RX-7 and he did a lot of tail wagging and got a bit lost on that first run, yet again a blast for me. The last ride along was with my roommate in his Mazda RX-8 and of course it was more tail wagging wrong way going fun for me. After that I hoped out and went about filming some of those races but by then people were getting the hang of things and the weather was warming up and so was the asphalt.

Due to mother nature's call I missed filming one of my roommate's runs where he took out 5 cones at once. It was funny to watch but I wasn't nearly set up yet to film so totally missed it on camera. Maybe they'll have a winter event and we can all have fun really sliding around on snow and ice. So the last event was a great time were most people were just out to have fun and enjoy the wonderful smells of gasoline, burnt rubber and egos. I did miss something fantastic though when I went home early (stupid battery life) I missed out on seeing the monster wing that used to be on the Viper (replaced by a much more suitable wing thankfully) being run instead on a Corvette. Oh the humanity. In any case that's it for the year and folks go back to tinker with their cars during the off time for the next season. And I go about working out how to use that umbrella and pick up a few extra batteries and a much larger Memory stick for next year. Since I didn't take the DSLR I didn't get any static pictures so borrowed one from Chris Wold.

Penguin Musume Heart

Funniest Guilty pleasure this year by far has been Penguin Musume Heart an ONA (Original Net Animation) that just finished it's run on Nico Nico Douga a Japanese based video service much like youtube. Interesting enough this is actually two seasons worth of giggles and fanservice when I actually thought it was only one season.

22 10minute (including credits) long episodes of pure hilarity with a pinch of yuri centric fanservice (it's an all girl show minus the one trap) tossed in for good measure focuses on the crazy life of a girl called Penguin (Pen-chan). Pen-chan is a true Otaku and loves to cosplay (and makes her classmates cosplay as well) and make random anime/manga references to what is happening around her. Her real name is Sakura Nankyoku and she is the oldest daughter(?) of a very wealthy Japanese family who seems to be able to build massive buildings in a day not to mention time machines and all sorts of other interesting things.

There is something for everyone to like in this show as it tosses every kind of anime stereotype at you in a fit of laughter. Even the Opening and closing credits of this show are fun to watch and laugh at. Honestly though I was really hoping to see a mighty space battle at the end but maybe that will be coming in a third season. It's not like they didn't allude to the posiblity of it in the last episode. I would really like to see this show get licensed for a NA release but I just don't know if that will happen. If you haven't seen this I really think you owe it to yourself to at least check it out. I'm sure you'll get a good laugh out of it like I did. You can still catch all of it here at Crunchyroll.

While the week was boring and filled with only work and donating plasma the weekend was much more enjoyable and fun. Actually on Friday I visited with grandma for a bit and received a holster for the Model 15 pistol I have. Great for packing around but the thing is way to big for concealed carry. Which is something on the list of things to get done before January 20, 2008. Roommate's dad showed up later that evening to get the black beast running again this time it was only a fluid issue and adjustment of the clutch. I just stood around looking like I knew what I was doing, and talking smack of course. I mentioned that it might be a good idea to install one of those airjack systems that LeMans cars have to make it easier on all of us, as much time as it spends in the air.

Saturday was a day of photography and anime watching as I found out that you can do HDR images in Photoshop so decided to give that a try and failed. Got some OK pictures of the roommate's Turboed Mazda RX-8 but mostly it was a bust for trying HDR out. Will have to play with the camera a lot more and figure out how to do that one of these days as it's a pretty cool looking photography trick. After that went to another Anime Meet-up and watched some more anime. Still not that gaga over Chi's sweet home but it is pretty funny at times. Other than that watch some stuff that I've already seen and some stuff that I haven't.

Sunday though was a blast as it was the last autocross event of the season and a fun time going for a couple ride-alongs. I'll be blogging about that later in the week when I get all the videos uploaded. And now I'm at work blogging at the end of the week looking forward to the next week. Also the poll ended this Sunday with a whooping 4 votes with all the votes going for you folks wanting to see some more hot 2D/3D ladies. So I'll be working on added that function today for the first time.

More Anime Ramblings?

Ok at the moment it's only two little small ramblings about anime this time and the first one is about Nel's voice from Bleach. Everyone has their own favorite Bleach characters and one of mine is little Nel (Neliel Tu Oderschvank) the pint sized terror who just recently regained her adult body and powers. The only problem and the point of my rambling rant is that when she grew up her voice didn't. Oh my freaking goodness what an annoying voice.

The first episode the voice kinda fit as she still seemed a bit childish when she grabbed Ichigo and saved him. But then she started getting serious and she turned into this cool smooth thinking character and then during her flash back where we see even more of her grace and elegance and reasoning and the damn squeaky little girl voice just doesn't fit her character at all in my opinion. She needs a smart, some what more seductive and smooth voice than what she has right now. Oh well that's anime for you I guess. If that's really the voice they want her to have than I guess I'll just have to endure.

Now the second rambling is a small victory for the American Anime watcher in that [Adult Swim] once again changed their Saturday late night lineup again. I say small victory because Anime still isn't the headliner of the line up but at least gone are the lame, insipid, horrid crap that was on before. The headliners are an hour of Robot Chicken (getting Stale) and Aque Teen (more Stale) followed by an hour of Boondocks then we roll into the Anime block which thankfully brings back the new Anime series to a better time slot after a new episode of Bleach. Then follows a bunch of repeat anime that we've all seen before. Maybe, just maybe I'll go back to watching [adult swim] again.

Grenadier ~ The Senshi of Smiles

Lets go back a little to an older anime called Grenadier ~ The Senshi of Smiles which I just finished watching on DVD thanks to Netflix. I only became aware of this anime though repeated postings of all the animated gifs of the main character that are floating around 4chan and else were. I mean how can you not be interested in finding out more about a well endowed pistol packing woman who can reload her revolver by...using her breasts! To be honest after watching those animated gifs of her interesting way of reloading I added Grenadier to the queue but it took a while to work it's way up to the top.

Now that it finally did and I marathoned all three disks on a weekend I can honestly say it was a bit more than just some fancy reloading skills. It was an actually OK anime, which surprised me. It was a bit more than just jiggling female body parts reloading guns all the time it had a pretty good plot with our heroine the Smiling Senshi working her way back to her home so that she could find out why she had a price on her head. Following her along on the quest are two others a young balloon making female child and a ronin who is known as the the Rear Guard Tiger. He's along for the trip after he meets up with the Smiling Senshi and she protects him from harm and teaches him about her fighting style.

That's one of the main themes about this anime our heroine who is a dead aim with a pistol isn't out to really hurt or kill anyone. No she wants to strip them of their armour and weapons and embrace them so that they loose their will to fight. Not entirely a bad way to be defeated if you ask me. So 11 episodes of the gang heading towards home defeating one Senshi (other gun toting badguys) after another stripping them of their armour and weapons blah blah. Then we get to the last episode and the end fight is with another well endowed female gunslinger much like the Smiling Senshi with her own impressive reloading technique. Of course our lovely Smiling Senshi wins and everything is right as rain in the end.

This show had me laughing as much as wondering just how a lady could fit that much ammo in such a place yet was surprised by how fun and entertaining the show was. I really wasn't expecting much from it and took a while to get around to seeing it but now that I have I'm glad that I did. While there is some fanservice there isn't nearly the amount that I expected from watching the animated gifs. If you haven't watched it yet and have some spare time I'd suggest hitting it up on netflix and checking it out you just might be surprised at how good it really is like I was.

Random Anime Ramblings

I have been thinking of a lot of random anime related things of late that really don't fit into any of the other blogs so I think I'll just write an entire blog about some of the more random things that have been going on in the world of anime.

If you've been following Gurren Lagann on Scifi you would have just finished the series this last Monday and while I'll be honest I got just as teary eyed as I did the first time watching it subbed I thought Scifi did a horrible job with the cutting in of Commercials. A lot of epic things happen during the last 3 episodes and right when you're getting into it...commercial...jenga cat...FAIL. So if you have only had the chance to watch it on SciFi you really owe it to yourself to at least rent the last disk (I'd suggest Netflix)and watch the final in all it's uncut glory. The DVD box set is most definitely on my Christmas wish list. I loved this series and honestly I have a sweet spot for the gun slinging Yoko. Not that I'd ever want to marry her which brings me to my next rambling rant.

WTF! is what I thought when I first heard about Otaku's in Japan wanting the right to marry fictional 2d (animated) characters onDannychoo. Seriously if people didn't think you were odd in the head before they sure as well do now. It's just so ubsured and lame that again...jenga cat! I just couldn't say anything nice about the whole thing that I never made any comments about it until now. I would honestly point and laugh at you if you told me you were married to a fictional character. I don't have any problems to people taking care of their health with the aid of 2d characters so long as you understand the line between reality and fiction and that the two never cross no matter how much you want it to.

On another Otaku rant what the hell is up with the otaku freaking out over a Character's possibility of not being a Virgin because she had a boyfriend. I'm talking about the recent uproar over the revelation that Nagi in the manga/anime Kannagi has an ex-boyfriend and who she might of had impure relations with. Again Jenga cat WTF! The explosion not only on 2ch and 4chan but on the blogshire with theories and rants about how they can't have a second hand wife and yet the amount of naughty ecchi images out there I just don't get it. The best theory that I've seen so far is that it doesn't matter as she was reborn a new when she was transformed from the carved tree trunk. So see we can all go back to reading the manga and watching the show and not freaking out about an anime character's vertue after all.

That's good enough for now on the rambling and ranting so just enjoy what I think is one of the better images of Yoko and friends that I've seen in a while.

Chizuru is already in the holiday spirit and thinks you might be too when you find out that you can save 25% off your next order (or more) at deepdiscount just in time for the Holiday shopping season. This is a great chance to save a bundle on DVD purchases for yourself (ya Scrooge) and your loved ones and friends.

This is mostly for those in the states even though deepdiscount ships internationally all the DVDs are Region 1 and shipping costs might be different so buyer beware on that front. You can check out the site for all the restriction on what you can use the discount for but it's mostly for instock DVDs (all formats).

here are the all the codes you can use (even though you can only use one at a time)
SUPERSALE, DEEP, USATODAY, DVDTALK, YAHOO, SAVE, GREEN, NYTIMES, LATIMES

Just as an FYI when you choose the free shipping option it usually took a good solid business week for my orders to show up here in Boise, ID, and they typically shipped from New York. So you'll have some idea of how long it will take to arrive at your house. I've ordered from Deepdiscount several times and have never had a bad experience. This is great way to stock up on Anime DVD box sets.

2008 Winter Anime Schedule V1

I've only been able to find the first version image summary of the anime that will be out for the 2008 winter season (December, January and February) as such it looks pretty light so if I find any significant changes I'll have to update this when that time comes. And knowing my luck someone will post V2 or more sometime this week. However as far as the anime shows go it's no surprise but it looks like the winter season will be chuck full of sequels from previous shows of the 2008 summer and fall season and yet still no 2nd season of Haruhi. So what am I going to be looking forward to watching during those cold winter nights...

The Tower of Druaga ~ The Sword of Uruk: The follow up of last years fabulous Dungeons and Dragons like anime. Will more than likely catch this entirely on Youtube like I did last year or may switch over to watching it on Crunchyroll depending on who has the best quality. Looking forward to seeing who ends up with who this season.

Shikabane Hime Gen: Following close on the heels of this seasons series I wonder if Funimation will gobble this season up as fast as it did last season. If so looks like I'll be checking this out again on youtube.

Birdy the Mighty DECODE: D: So looking forward to another season of this fun scifi anime. This time I'm just hoping for a much better ending than the last one.

Afro Samurai: Will definitely be checking this out on the Spike channel. Really liked the first season and this follow up looks to be just a good if not better. Maybe Spike will add some more anime in the future as I really think Blade of the Immortal and Kurozuka would be a great fit for Spike and along the same lines as Afro Samurai. Still no order about the live action movie though.

Kemono no Soja Erin: Is one of the original series for this season and is from Production IG and from the same Author as Seirei no Moribito so in my book that just equals a must check out at any rate.

Rideback: I saw the TV promo for this a while back and it looked interesting is from Madhouse so again it's worth a look.

Queen's Blade: This is looking like this season guilty pleasure. ladies battling it out with weapons for the chance to be queen. I've looked at some scans of the magazines and if the anime follows anything like the magazine it's going to be fanservice rich.
I was really hoping that the second season of Sekirei was being released this season as well but so far it doesn't look like that will be happening.

Range Report

Like I mentioned in the weekly report me and a couple of my friends went out shooting last Saturday for probably the last time this year as the weather is getting too nasty to go outside and shoot. Probably won't keep me from going to the indoor range during the winter though. Since it was the last time I wanted to take everything I had out there and take some pictures for the blog and just have a good time.

I took out the Maverick 88 (cheaper version of the Mossbreg 500) shotgun and this time the flashlight actually survived the outing and stayed attached to the shotgun. If you don't remember the last time I took out the shotgun I had another flashlight attached to the shotgun but after the second or so round the flashlight came flying off of the shotgun. I'm still not that great at shooting the shotgun but getting better. I don't like using the front bead sight and don't exactly know where I'm suposed to aim so might get either a ghost ring sight for it or go with another inexpensive red dot system. Of course that means more work but hey that just sounds like a winter time fun project.

Also along for this journey was the custom hand made 25-06 rifle that my grandpa made for me for the 18th birthday but I received it as a graduation gift. It's a beautiful rifle if I don't say so myself even if it does shoot a bit right of AOP. I took it along mostly because I really wanted to try out my own handloads that I did some time ago. I was shooting 90grain hollowpoints and I think they did pretty good for a first time reloading. I really need to pick up a small portable bench rest though as using the hood of the Subaru isn't all that great of an idea but it work for the day.

A trip out shooting isn't complete without the Ruger 10/22 and boy does it look small in pictures. Nothing really too new about this one as it's almost always coming along thanks to it being a .22 and thankfully still cheap and fun to shoot. The battery is still going strong (now that I remember to take it out of the scope) and the new Tactical Solutions magazine release lever is fantastic even if the fit is a bit off.

Last but not least are the two revolvers the Sig Sauer Mosquito is running much much better now that I know to keep it lubed up like a tight...well you know what I mean. Nothing really new there. New for the Model 15 though is the chance to actually use the speedloader and it was pretty handy and easy to use. I probably haven't mentioned this but I did apply red modelers paint to the top of the front sight and it helps immensely for aiming. Just a little trick I learned from reading and listening to Michael Bane's blog.

Oh yes what a fun afternoon of shooting it was a bit drizzly so didn't end up using the pro-camera even though I took it out there and instead used the handy Canon G6 for these pictures. My friend Nick's SKS only fired one out of 10 rounds and after a quick look at the primers it looked like the firing pin wasn't hitting as hard as it was supposed to so that will need to be looked at.

Because of the light showers though there was a little bit of mud out there and on the drive back we had a little fun off roading the Subaru Outback even though the mudflaps did a good job of keeping the mud off the car it was still fun. Probably one of few actually off roaded Outbacks though. But that was our day out shooting and you can check out the pictures at flickr

Thank you. Today is Veterans Day and I'd just like to take this time to thank those who have served and will serve in the armed forces in order to protect my freedom and the freedom of others. You're all doing a good job and may all your brothers and sisters come home safe to their families in due time.

What a week. A rather historic week with the election of our first black president. I'm glad that I could take part in the events even though I voted for the other guy. The rest of the week was pretty easy going. I couldn't donate plasma on Thursday because my pulse wouldn't go below 110 (holly fuck!) for a solid hour. stupid Chocolate Chip cookies and Dr. Pepper. So I really need to take it easy next time I go in there. I was thinking of going in Friday but that would mess up my schedule and I wanted to go shooting.

Ending up not shooting on Friday instead did that on Saturday. Before we went I got to watch a few of the Formula Drift events on ESPN and my roommate and I are wondering what a chipping Point is. We saw the sign on one of the tracks but didn't know what it meant. After that we headed out and grabbed a bite to eat and went out shooting. I wanted to go one more time before the weather got really nasty. Did a lil' offroading in the roommate's Subaru Outback since it's been raining off and on during the weekend which was fun even though the mudflaps did their job and kept most of the mud off the car. But more on the shooting later.

After that I went to another anime group meeting and because I didn't take a nap I started to fall asleep so left early. Leaving me with Sunday.

Sunday was going good until I got to work to find out some retarded fuck of a co-worker screwed up one of the computers by downloading scam anti-virus programs and other shit crap so spent the first three hours of work fixing the problem. How damn hard is it to know not to fucking download shit that you don't know what it is especially when it's not YOUR computer to be messing with in the first place. End rant.

Oh and don't forget there is still time to vote for what you want me to add to this web page.

Shikabane Hime Aka

Imagine my surprise recently when I discovered that I could no longer find any fansub releases for one of the better shows of this season. They had all magically disappeared from sight and I was left with only reading a C&D letter from Funimation. Turns out FUNimation has acquired the license for Shikabane Hime Aka and have been diligent about getting out C&D letters to everyone. A sad sad gloomy day indeed for American fans of the show.

Thankfully FUNimation isn't totally retarded for doing this as they are actually giving back to the fans right away with free LEGAL streaming subbed episodes of Shikabane Hime Aka through their own website and partner sites as well. Also fans are able to purchase episodes to own for $1.99. With this Funimation is following the footsteps of other companies who are seeing the benefits of releasing current subbed animes for free to fans around the world in real time. That actually should be a feel good moment for both FUNimation and the fans. We still get to watch a current show free and legally and FUNImation can cut down on Illegal Downloads. I think it's a good thing and will be watching this on Youtube from now on.

Other places you can watch Shikabane Hime Aka for free and legally are Joost, Hulu and of course FUNimation as well. Just an FYI though so far they are only up to episode 2 so it will be a bit of a wait to catch up to where I was but hopefully they'll get there soon enough.

Good Smile Racing and mini Itasha

Some time ago I stumbled upon Good Smile Racing's blog (World Rally) and while I couldn't quit read every thing I did think the Mitsu Evo they were racing was pretty awesome and dang if their racing logo wasn't cool. I was thinking dang I wish they would sell those logos as stickers. That would be cool and I'd definitely slap one of those on the ol' tool chest. But sadly they're not.

Well this morning I was looking about Otaku.fm for the latest and greatest in Otaku news and saw an itty bitty Itasha car that Danny had posted. Like I do when ever I see car stuff I clicked to see what it was about and found out that the Good Smile Company Started selling stuff under the Good Smile Racing banner. Could this mean I might just get my wish? Well time will tell but currently they are only offering sticker sheets of Miku Hatsune that you can use to make your own lil' itasha car. From what I can tell they are available for 1/24th and 1/10th scale cars so they probably won't look good on my 1/18th diecasts that I collect, not sure if I would put them on my cars anyways really. However I might still get some of them for the racing logos. Also to be honest I'm not entirely sure if they are peel and stick stickers or modeling decals like the water-slide decals in model kits. I don't like water-slide decals and they probably wouldn't work to well on the tool chest.

Now if someone would make a Z4GTR model you could have your very own Studio Glad Z4GTR race car to run in a miniature Super GT race. I just wonder what else Good Smile Racing will come up with. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for new things.

And our next President of the United States is...

Barrack Obama! Finally it's over and I won't keep getting phone calls all day from the fucking Democratic party urging me to go vote. They called in the last week 12 times all during the time I was trying to sleep. The fuckers. Also it brings an end to the countless campaigning crap that we all had to sit through for the last year. In any case congratulations to Barack Obama for winning.

On a side note it will be interesting to see what Bush does with his last remaining couple months of presidental power. Also it will be interesting to see what Obama does in the next couple months. Both men will have a lot to think about and do before the middle of January rolls around.

I'm just glad that I could take part in this historical moment in time.

Making a better blog...

Greetings from the ever lovely Aki Hoshino (one of my all time fav idols) and myself. As a treat for those non-American readers out there who don't care for me rambling on about the need to Vote for the next President of the United States here is a chance for them and you (along with the Americans as well) to vote for something fun. If you look over to the right you'll notice that there is a new poll open asking you to vote for what you think I should add to the blog to make it more interesting and fun to read.

I've been thinking about this for a while now and think that I just might leave it up to you the readers to decide what I should add. In place of the poll I was thinking of adding a weekly animated gif. Nothing pornographic but maybe something a bit naughty? It would change at least once a week when I do the weekly review. Might change more often than that but no promises. It could be 2D related or 3D related. It would be shrunk to fit that space with a link to the original size and a link to where I found it.

I also thought of adding a daily 2D or 3D girl (like Ms. Hoshino above) in the same place as the animated gif. I thought about just going with posting a 2D or 3D girl with the weekly review but that might detract more than help my readership. So the girl on the side is a better option.

BUT since I haven't been posting much in the way of Guns or Cars lately I could also do the same for them like the girly images. In this case I wouldn't be posting my own images but images that I've found on the Internet that I thought were awesome enough to share. Since space is limited (I don't want to have people scrolling forever to see everything) so I really can't do both and it probably wouldn't work out to alternate them either.

I do need to post more about guns and cars as this is becoming more and more just an anime blog and I really didn't want that to happen. But that's something I need to fix myself really. I need to break that stuff out from the weekly review mostly. Anyways maybe I should just have a weekly review poll as well. Skip the pictures altogether and make the blog more interactive for the readers. That's an option too. See I have a lot of ideas but I just can't decide on what I should do so I'm going to just leave it up to the readers. Of course I also added the classic you suck option and the other option as well. No I wouldn't stop blogging if people voted for the you suck but it would make me rethink how I do the blog though.

Last but not least does anyone even care about the two widgets I have at the bottom of the blog the webcomic (which I think is funny but is not for everyone) and the Stiggy discriptions. If I got rid of them would anyone even care about that? What about the Clarkson widget? Once again something I like but isn't for everyone. Maybe I should just start a stand alone car blog instead. There's a horrible idea. Probably another idea would be to not write so much...I'm I too TL;DR in my writing?

VOTE!

VOTE! That's right today is the day. The day in which we pick the next President (along with a slew of other offices) of the United States of America. I'm voting when I get home from work in the morning but I'm going to be missing the election coverage as I'll be sleeping at that time.

I'm not going to tell you who to vote for because by now you should already know who you are going to vote for and nothing I can say will change your mind I just think everyone who can (legally) vote should no matter who they like.

Also voting today will get you a free doughnut at Krispy Kreme when you show them your "I voted" sticker.

Good luck to both candidates and I hope however wins doesn't fuck shit up more then they already are. I predict neither candidate will ever see a second term. Nor will the loser run for President again.

I am saying goodbye to Asian Poppers at this moment. More than a year of being inclined to Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese and Filipino Pop Music has given me so much entertainment. But because school is killing me right now, I don't think I will be able to continue posting in the site. But even though I will stop posting in this site, I will still support Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese and Filipino Pop Music. Who knows, I can start a site full of SNSD news once they had their comeback. I really want to make a site exclusive for them so I hope school will let me ^^ But you can always see me in Soshified Forums and Soompi Forums during my blogging absense. If you need help, feel free to email me at miya_chan11@yahoo.com. BTW, you can still backtrack all the old posts by searching via Archives (shown above).

I hope everyone had a pleasant and fun Halloween. Next up is Thanksgiving but you'd never guess that from walking into a retail store at the moment as everything is screaming Christmas instead. You know three days before Halloween the local Walmart actually had a decorated Christmas tree up in the main entrance already. Talk about jumping the gun but hey it's retail. For Halloween I just slept and missed all of ZERO trick or treaters not a single kid stopped by our house as I knew they wouldn't so I saved a bundle on not buying candy (probably also saved me some pounds too). As for the rest of the week it was pretty uneventful again. Donated more plasma watched a few movies. I think there was something I was going to blog about during the week but obviously it wasn't that important as I've forgotten what it was that I was going to blog about. Either that or I'm just getting to old to remember stuff past a couple days.

Saturday was a good day though as I finally went and learned how to reload my ammo. Now I have an extra 100 rounds of 25-06 ammo to play (and a couple nasty blisters that popped on my index finger...ouch!) with but thanks to it raining lately haven't taken any out to test fire and see how they do. It was also nice to visit with my aunt and uncle for a while as well and see the new trophies that they just recently got back from Africa (they went hunting there last year and just barely got the trophies back, talk about slow shipping). They do now finally have a Zebra skin rug which looks fantastic. Anyways I can't actually reload any of the stuff I have at home because currently I don't have a Veirner Dial Caliper to measure the lengths of the cartridges and what not. And you sort of need one of those. Maybe I'll add one to my Christmas wish list. Learning to reload took all morning so took a nap before heading off to check out the local anime club.

MoNAC is organized though meetup and is a small local group of people of varying demographics who meet up Saturdays at 7:30pm to mostly watch fansubbed (non-released) anime and have a good time chatting about anime. Being my first time and all it was pretty interesting. Watched some stuff that I've already seen and some stuff that I haven't seen so my time was definitely not wasted. Pretty good people for the most part so might just have to check it out some more. Speaking of anime did you notice that I changed my heading image to an anime one recently. If you're wondering where it's from or what it's about it's from the 9th DVD special for Kanokon and features the cute lil' spirit ninjas that you can't help but love as the provide some great laughs.

Next week will be interesting as Tuesday is the official day for elections and since I didn't do any of that early voting stuff I'll be heading to the local elementary school to cast my vote when I get home before I head off to donate plasma again. Other than that I see a rather boring week ahead of me.
