As for his US debut plans …
Lets hear what Se7en’s company has to say…..
1/2/2008
Hello, this is Yang Hyun SukThis is my first greeting to you in the new year. It’s late but Happy New Year ~ ~
Looking back on last year, there was Big Bang’s busy and energetic performances; however, in contrast, the other singers’ album activities were temporarily delayed. Furthermore, there was unfortunate news of some singers’ contracts expiring.
In my apologetic heart, I would like to only bring good news to everyone this year.
Today, as a new year’s special^^, I would like share news about Se7en’s anticipated U.S. debut, and additionally, the album activities of other artists, and a sneak peek at YG’s trainees who will debut this year.
Se7en
Until this time, domestic (Korean) artists have never debuted in the U.S. mainstream music market, neither has there been any Asian artists who have succeeded in the U.S. markets. Therefore, I believe that a domestic artist has less that 1% success rate in the U.S.In particular, Se7en, who halted all his activities in Korea and Japan, is in a risky position with a 99% rate of failure. While taking into consideration the potential difficulties ahead of time, Se7en did not start with just a hope for the 1% chance of success but tried to find a way of increasing that 1% chance of success.
In order to ensure the success of Se7en, I believe that he needed to meet the best staff…fortunately, everything seems to be unfolding smoothly.
The person in charge of Se7en’s U.S. debut album is Mark Shimmel, along with producer Rich Harrison, Noize Trip, and rapper Fabolous.
There has been more progress made during the past few months when I was not able to bring news to you.
Along with the rapper Fabolous, several other famous rappers have participated, and U.S.’s top producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkens has finished recording songs with Se7en.
It’s hard to introduce Darkchild in a brief manner…
His most recent work was Janet Jackson’s title song “Feedback” in her upcoming album, which has already been well-received by critics.
In the past, Darkchild has produced Michael Jackson’s title song “You Rock my World,” Destiny Child’s “Lose my Breath” and “Say my Name,” Beyonce and Jay-Z’s “Déjà vu”; and has worked with many more artists, among them Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Brandy, TLC, Brian McKnight,
.
Because Darkchild is a very busy producer and hard to contact, he only promised to work on one song with Se7en, but after seeing Se7en’s satisfactory performance, he worked on several more.^^Due to Darkchild’s collaboration, Se7en’s U.S. album is about to wrap up…the only remaining (but important) issue is finding a record label that will promote Se7en in the U.S., and signing a contract with them. Unbelievably, a representative from the #1 record label company in the U.S. has met with our representatives and is in the process of negotiating a contract.
In about 2-3 months, more details on Se7en’s U.S. album release will be available. There is much curiosity but until then, please wait patiently….^^
