It was taking Netflix forever to get me the disk (perpetual LONG WAIT is FTL) so I downloaded the film instead. Also in an attempt to actually do better at the whole anime blogging thing I decided to do it a little bit differently.
What is it: Kite Liberator is a sequel to the much darker Kite. It focuses on Monaka the daughter of an astronaut and a trained assisian called The Angel of Death. Monaka in her school girl gues is a clumsy school girl that also has a job as a late night waitress. The main villian turns out to be her father who has turned into an almost unstoppable monster that has crash landed back on Earth and from what I assume is actually looking for his daughter. Before she goes up against her father the Angel of Death takes out two other scumbags another one is taken out in the middle of the fight with her father.
My Opinion: While I've only seen the tame version of Kite I really can't remember much about it so I'm glad it's out on DVD along with Mezzo Forte (in both naughty and tame versions) and I'll probably be picking the naughty version up soon. Anyways the biggest WTF moment is the end. It ends right the fuck in the middle of the damn fight with her father/monster. The animation is alright could have been better in spots. I liked the outerspace CGI part. But WTF is wrong with those guys running? The music is well now that I think about kinda forgetable, and the story minus the end is also good. I'm going to see if the Netflix version is minus the little nude scene of Monaka though. I would have to give this only one thumb up, It's atleast worth renting, nude scene or not. I also kind of hope for another film because that was just a dumb ending which is for me the main reason it only got one thumb.
