1. Soju
In all Korean dramas, Soju is the drink to drown their pain and sorrows. Those green bottles of Jinro (most popular brand name) with high alcohol fermented rice wine that I was told smelled really vile! Too many examples do name, so I am not going to put any examples.
2. Handphone
Well, since most people cannot leave home without it and in very connected South Korean, this should not be a surprise. In Kmovie, Madeline, the leads lead by Jo In Seong and Shin Min Ah were sending SMSes to say what they cannot say face to face but they were sms-ing while sitting next to each other! This was deemed to be a very touching scene at that time from a review I read.
3. Ramen/Jajangmien
The ubiquitous instant noodles, always cooked in those thin brass pots, and eaten straight from these pots. I remember Eric Mun´s character sharing his friend´s ramen on the upside down cover of the brass pot in Super Rookie. Also, I remember Eric Mun in the same drama treated “rich girl” for dinner with jajangmien and it was 40,000 Korean won for 2 bowls of this noodle in a cafeteria type of joint! The guys must show their chivalry by tossing up the noodles in the black sauce for his girl, must be another symbol of a milestone in their relationships in these Kdramas. GoongS has Se7en starting out as Jajangmen delivery boy but the most memorable jajangmien incident must have been Jo In Seong´s black sauce stained mouth in Memories in Bali, he looked so vulnerable as Jae Min trying to win back Soo Jung at the pool hall.
4. Home Decor
Opulent decor was used in Goong, Princess Hour. In Wonderful Life, the families were squabbling over the choice of furniture bought by Eugene´s character´s family as her trousseau.
5. Toys/Puppets
Who could forget the toy piggy that haunted Hyeon Bin´s Jin Hyeon in My Name is Kim Sam Soon. While Lovers in Prague has Jeon Do Yeon manipulating the Czech puppets and when her relation hit the rocks, she talked to them.
6. Fridge
The cool place where they bring out the Kimchi, I remembered Song Hye Gyo´s and Rain´s character doing that a number of times in Full House.
7. Sauna
This is a must have hangout and a place for socializing, perk up or wash up. Not to forget the bath towel rolled up with both ends in a knot and place over their head like a shower cap! The sauna must be a place for bonding!! However, this doesn’t stop me from getting a funny feeling when I watch two males scrubbing each others´ back sitting on those little stools!
8. Amusement Park
I think we have seen enough of Lotte World or Everland to not to have to go on a Tour to have one of these Theme parks to be included in the tour itinerary! Anyway, Kangta was discovered in one of these parks at an age while he was bridging puberty! Kim Jeong Hoon´s Prince Yul took Yoon Eun Hye´s CG to one in Goong to cheer her up, in Beautiful Life, new singers cut their teeth in such places, etc..
