I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a huge follower of the Street Fighter game or anime series but once in a while you just gotta check something out based on the leaked images and trailers for the show. The Super Street Fighter IV OVA that was released with the game of the same name in March of this year is that sort of show. It took until last week for any one to actual sub the episode and I jumped on it first thing. Horrible quality video and all.
The video was low quality and the subs while good to read were typeset really poorly (at times taking up half the entire screen) so why did I want to watch this? Well the trailer looked interesting and the vidcaps that people had posted looked interesting so I wanted to check it out. I did and other than the aforementioned lameness it was alright even if it did leave you with a huge cliff hanger (I assume the game resumes the story plot).
The plot revolves around Korean Martial Artist Han Juri who lost her family and left eye to some sinister organization. Another sinister organization comes along and offers her an opportunity she can't pass up. They embed a super powerful engine in her left eye socket that gives her super human power which she uses to kill, main and kick some major ass.
While doing the aforementioned kick ass and killing the agents Chun-li, Cammy and some big muscle head guy with a bad haircut arrive on the scene to help out and poor Chun-li gets her ass handed to her and the team begins to investigate the mysterious woman and her powers which lead them to an isolated out of the way hideout where Juri is once again up to her badassness as she kicks her way through some of Bison's top female assassins until Cammy and the brute arrive to find out what's up with Juri. More fighting and more Juri kicking ass and then presto we are left with a cliff hanger ending.
If you're a huge Street Fighter fan than this is for you but I'd wait for better quality subs and video honestly. The OVA was only released with the Japanese versions of the game which left Americans out to dry. I think that's pretty lame myself but that's just how things go. Will there be another Street Fighter Anime? Probably not. I just wanted to see this and I did. If I ever find a better version than I'll probably check it out again. I did expect more fanservice but surprisingly there wasn't a whole lot of it. No video game jiggly bits here.
Here's the trailer:
