Future occupation -- Devil King. D'oh! That's definitely not how you want to start your new life at the Magical Academy. Unfortunately for our hero/bad guy that's exactly what happens and thus starts the often funny and usually fanservicy show Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou which is a Magic/harem/action series that revolves around the main guy Akuto Sai who's destined to be the next Devil King.
Of course Akuto is dead set against following those predictions and striving to be a good guy so that he can become a high level clergyman so that he can change the future of the world. Of course the entire school believes he's going to be the next Devil King and is dead set on giving him a hard time.
This isn't just a magical show no it's also very much a harem show as well as several girls are gravitated towards him with many ulterior motives. This is often referred to on 4chan as the color wars as each one of the girls involved in one way or another has a different hair color. Because of this there is a lot of sexual innuendo through out the series including an all out marriage proposal to the ninja warrior girl who is conflicted with her feelings for the would be Devil King. This is also probably the only normal show that I've seen that depicts a girl pleasuring her self.
So the mucho fanservice aside the show does a good job on the action as well. At the beginning there really isn't much but comical action and misunderstanding as Akuto learns to use his abilities but towards the end bigger and bigger monsters show up hords of Ninjas and an occasional overpowered time traveler cause a little bit of trouble for the school and everyone else. We also get a better idea of overal society in a very short time. It does seem to chuck a lot of information at you at the end but it's all entangled in fight after fight so most of the time you're not really paying attention to the society lesson anyways with all the fights going on.
All of that makes for what I think is a fun and interesting little show that does the magical school harem genre proud. This is absolutely a show that deserves to be licensed but will it? I'm not sure but I can hope. I watched the uncensored version which offered up more fanservice but you could watch it on Crunchyroll censored if you want to. There are also very ecchi DVD specials which are now just being released as well.
