Halo Legends

Don't mind me I'm just jumping on the just announced Halo animation news bandwagon like everyone else. I don't have any new news of course just my own take on the released short trailer and the images that have been released already.

From what I've read so far Halo Legends (updated link from IGN with new trailer?) will be much like Batman: Gotham Night (which I blogged about here) in that it will be a collection of animated short films, in this case seven of them, from a handful of power house anime studios including Bones, Studio 4°C, Production I.G., Casio Entertainment and Toei Animation. Helming this project are some big names as well Frank O'Conner along with Shinji Aramaki and Mamoru Oshii are directing and Joseph Chou is producing. Warner Brothers will be releasing it in early 2010 on what looks like just about every media format that you can think of.

I caught wind of the trailer on Futuba chan of all places before I started seeing news of it pop up on the Otaku blog sphere so I got to see what it looked like before I had any idea of what was going on. There was some that I didn't like like the overly cartoonish look of some scenes and that there was the kid holding the gun to the old lady in the wheel chair but it looks like we'll get a good look at the past of the Halo Universe and a much larger scope of the Halo Universe along with some comedy (I think that's the overly cartoonish part) tossed in.

I have high hopes for it because I liked how they did Batman: Gotham Night and think with those power house anime studios and those people working on it it'll just knock our collective Halo Fanboy socks off. Now before you check out the trailer below I do have one extra thought. I wonder if they are doing this not just for the fans but more as a strategy to help sales of the XBOX360 in Japan since something like this will definitely help sales of the third place console. In any case those with an XBOX360 will be able to enjoy bonus previews of the shows later this year over the Live network. In any case here's the trailer.
