Minami-ke Betsubara

The second OVA (actually an OAD) that got lost in the life shuffle was the Minami-ki stand alone episode that was bundled with the 6th volume of the manga. Much like the regular series the OVA has three separate stories. For the fangirls who missed having Mosaka around in the last season of the series don't worry he gets plenty of screen time in the OVA. However, thankfully he isn't a main focus of the show. No the focus of course is still very much on the Minami sisters and the stories of their lives...

The first story while it features Mosaka as he thinks about how he will serve food and love to Haruka it quickly comes full circle thanks to carrots (which are filled with love mind you) when Chiaki who hates carrots forces herself to eat them since they are filled with her sister's love and all that goodness. Haruka of course takes that to mean that Chiaki loves carrots now and goes a bit overboard thinking of things to cook with carrots.

The second stories is more hi-jinks with Mako-chan the crossdressing boy from Chiaki's class. He's worried that another friend has found out about his secret and even though Kana thinks he's safe even if she knew he goes out of his way to avoid the girl even volunteering to clean the tub to escape. Only the friend decides to help out as well and some more hi-jinks ensue with the two eventually falling in the tub and the friend noticing how Strong Mako-chan is. hmmmm...poor guy.

The third and last story is a V-day tale of chocolates and who the girls like and want to give chocolates to. Hosaka makes an appearance as he day dreams about Haruka some more but this one is a story about Fujioka who has a crush on Kana but since Kana is so dense to not see the crush it's a nice touching moment when Kana does give him Chocolate on V-day even though she forgot that it was.

As a stand alone OVA there really isn't anything extra or special about it it's just an extra middle of the story episode that could have easily gone into the series. As a freebie to the manga (I'm assuming it was free anyways) it's a pretty nice thing and it's just a nice extra bonus to the series that's enjoyable to watch.

Akane-iro ni Somara Saka Hardcore

While it got lost in the shuffle of life that I've gone through recently I completely forgot about blogging on a couple of OVA shows that I watched before everything went crazy. The more interesting and fanservice overdose show Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka Hardcore was one of them. I read about it on Sankaku Complex and thought what the hell I'll check out and this is what I thought about it.

Obiviously Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka Hardcore is a simple guilty pleasure generic beach episode full of girls in bikinis with little to no real plot. I haven't actually watched the series that it originates from but that didn't really get in the way.

The plot is simple the harem shows up on a private beach to enjoy the time away from everyone and it's three guys and a whole horde of hotties. Hilarity and hi-jinks ensue when the girls lather up with sunscreen that has some extra goodies in it that drives all the girls to ecstasy and a need to make-out with the lead male character. Dude runs from the girls (silly anime stereotypes but then it isn't a hentai show either) until they eventually all end up ganging up on him...fade to black.

Is it worth watching? Yes if you just want some very mindless fanservice but honestly you'd be better served getting some real hentai and get a happy ending with your show. Does it make me want to watch the series...nope still not really interested in it. But hey at the time it was pretty good because it took my mind off all the hectic and crazy things going on at the time so if you like the series and like a healthy dose of fanservice you definitely couldn't go wrong with this. Oh yeah... BOOBIES! Enough said.

Bleach: Swimsuits and fillers -- UPDATED

Normally I wouldn't blog about Bleach unless it was about one of the movies mostly since it just seems to keep going and going and going however we've come to another break in the "manga storyline" and will now be enjoying a major "Filler Arc" that takes place outside the main storyline but before they started off with the new filler arc they gave us a few light and funny episodes including the first "beach" episode which lets face it let us all enjoy the Bleach ladies in swimsuit goodness. So lets take a closer look at those fillers.

While I think the swimsuit filler was the best to be honest the first filler in this group was a better idea for all the fans since it was a prologue episode. For all of you who might have wanted to know what happened a couple days before it all started this is the episode for you. The third and last of the mini fillers is pretty much just forgettable so lets get back to those ladies in swimsuits. It's just to bad there wasn't any of the cutesome arrancars like an adult Nelliel included, maybe next time. Of course for a beach episode there isn't much to the story other than some fun gags, but we do get the typical tentacle like Watermelon monster who gropes the girls until they get destroyed just to bad it all ends before they get into a good fight with all of the Watermelon monsters. But hey it's just a funny filler episode anyways and really you're only supposed to ogle the fanservice anyways.

Now onto the OMFG NOT ANOTHER FILLER ARC part. That's right another long filler that has nothing at all to with the main manga story line. Well actually this one doesn't look to be all that bad. From what I've learned and seen on Futuba channel it looks like the new main Emo looking bad guy named Muramasa comes along and demands the obligatory surrender or die ultimatum like all good bad guys should do. Of course since that's not going to happen he turns all the Zanpaktos into their true life like forms (mostly humanoid in nature) so that they will do battle against their respective Shinigamis. That actually sounds interesting. Those that don't like fillers can just enjoy your year long break from Bleach as this arc is going to last for 52 episodes (weeks) so I guess you can tune in sometime around now next year to follow the manga storyline as for me I'll be watching the filler arc. Some more good news is that the DVD for the third movie "Fade to Black" will be out in September as well.

UPDATE: Here is the ending for the new filler arc which showcases the new Zanpakto characters and who they are aligned with.

Insane Lady

Some days just require their own blog entry and this is most definitely one of those days...er nights. I just spent all night at work in the hotel dealing with a very crazy lady who even admitted on different occasions that she has been in and out of mental hospitals. Thank freaking God she is a sleep at the moment as I really can't take having to "check out" another suspicious looking car (including my own) in the parking lot.

So it all started with the Attack of the Gopher. I got into work and shortly there after my co-worker and I heard screams coming from outside so naturally we run out there to check on it. There is a woman standing on the deck table (thankfully it's a stone table) screaming bloody murder pointing a you guessed it a tiny lil' gopher who was staining her down. I kicked it "gently" (STFUPETA!) back on to the grassy area so that it could escape into the night and we managed to calm the lady down.

At that point I just knew that it was going to be one of THOSE nights and sure enough the crazy lady didn't disapoint. About an hour later after she had watched some news and told me that one of the girls had kept her ID that she believed she knew what happened to the little boy who has gone missig since this weekend. Apparently her secret agent undercover police officer for of all things the Food and Drug agency husband has a grudge against Mexicans and killed or did worse to the lil' Boy and while she's telling me all this she askes me what I would do and I told her to call crime stopprs and report it.

My BS detectors were not going off just yet but it didn't take long for them to go off once the other stuff came rolling in. After the conversation with Crime Stoppers and they told her pretty much that there was no way her husband could be involved she came back a bit later with a paper from the other day and told me that she definitely thought that her husband had killed the border agent that was killed recently and when I told her they had caught or were looking for six illegals she said that he had probably paid those guys off to kill that agent since her husband hated Mexicans and Blacks and was not only a secret agent (the real 007 infact) but a member of the Aryan nation.

At that point my BS detectors where pegged well into the "you're so full of shit" and I stopped believing any thing she said and was busy folding laundry trying to igore her at that point. It didn't work she went outside to smoke and complained about the bugs attaching her. Then on her second trip out there after I told her not to stand under the lights she came back inside telling me that she smelled dead bodies and that I should check it out and call the cops. So I checked it out and it was only fish dead fishy smell not to be mistaken for dead human remains. So that didn't work for here so she went out the other side to smoke and yet again started pounding on the door killing itty bitty mouths and screaming that she couldn't get back inside. After I got out to her to see why she was kicking the door she told me that some guy was ducking and dodging her trying to do something in the silver car next to the hotel. The only problem is that it was my car and there definitely no one messing around in it. So a bit more about her family and how her husband had either raped or molested everyone in the family. Thankfully after that she headed off to bed and I luckily didn't have to deal with her any more after that but still it was one crazy lady and one crazy night now it's the morning shifts problem and I need to post up an image and head to bed.

New Marvel animated movies

Sweet! That's pretty much the first thing that came to mind after I heard that Marvel while be working with animation powerhouse Madhouse in the making of two new Marvel animated movies. During Comic-con two new trailers for the upcoming Iron Man animated movie and Wolverine animated movie were shown and quickly uploaded to YouTube for the the rest of us to enjoy.

With Marvel working with Madhouse I have to say that both movie trailers looked absolutely stunning and far better quality than previous Marvel animated movies. Even though Madhouse worked with Marvel before (on Hulk Vs) this is a far better example of what Madhouse can really do.

The first up is yet another Iron Man movie and while it was noted that the trailers were more test footage the trailer looked freaking awesome where Iron Man faces off against some other powersuit type warlord dude with lots of explosions and shiny happening. Also because it's Iron Man it just wouldn't be complete without some cute anime girl involved as well. Here is the Iron Man trailer.

The second movie announced was a new Wolverine animated movie that looks to take place in Feudal Japan as Wolverine takes on Ninjas and giant Samurai warriors which to me looked some what more interesting than the Iron Man movie only because to be honest I've had a bit of Iron Man overload. In any case here's the trailer for Wolverine.

I'll be looking forward to watching them both. In the mean time the new Green Lantern: First Flight DVD is sitting at the 1st spot on my Netflix queue and while it may not be as dark or awesome as these two it should be entertaining enough since DC has a pretty good track record with their animated films.

Another week looks to be at the end. July is almost over already thank goodness I don't think I could take anymore of the June/July shit storm of life. I know that it's getting better since this week was actually a pretty nice week. Weather's been nice if just a touch to hot but thank goodness for A/C and for a change good things have happened this last week.

That's right my new HDD finally showed up so I was able to setup the computer and get back online. I have to be honest though it was kind of nice not having the Internet as it gave me a ton of free time to do other things but that darn pesky Internet addiction was craving some anime and moko.cc. I also found out that my busted drive is still covered under warranty. I'll hold off on that for now though so it gives me some time to get external enclosure so it's easier to take stuff off the old drive as the warranty is a replacement only deal. The good thing about the old drive is that I was able to get at it so that I could save my old FireFox bookmarks.

On top of the finally working computer a college buddy and his lovely wife were able to stop by and visit during their family reunion thing that they had up here and I got a free dinner out of the deal since I gave them a fantastic rate for a room at the hotel. It was nice to visit with them and to get a few home grown jalapenos. My Otaku room is coming along nicely I need to get some shelves up so that I can get all my toys and diecast cars unpacked finally.

One pesky thing about this week though that I'm sure will bite me in the ass later but Friday night the car started doing the high pressure whistle sound again so it looks like the new fuel pump might be going bad and I'll be yanking the tank out (yet again) to replace it but thankfully the pump is under warranty and wont cost me anything other than picking up some new o-rings for the gas lines. So it's not as bad as the first time but it's still going to suck. So far though even though I have the whistle I haven't gotten the hesitation...yet. We'll see how that goes next week.

So about today's image I found this on Futuba chan and I thought damn why the hell isn't there hot Asian chicks like this trolling about my local Burger King.

Testing in progress

Decided to test out another new feature that will hopefully cleanup the front page and make it more user friendly while at the same time not affecting the over all feel of it.

Which means that I've added an expanding post "read more" function that will hopefully make things easier and keep people around a little longer. Probably means that I'll need to do some more tweaking of other things as well in the end but it should be all good in the end. Of course right now this is really just a test page to see if it even works. Since this is mostly a test for myself to keep you the audience entertained for the moment and to thank you for clicking on it I gave you a most cutesome anime girl for your troubles. Oh yeah and HELLO! I have a working computer again and I'll try to catch up on my blogging.

Halo Legends

Don't mind me I'm just jumping on the just announced Halo animation news bandwagon like everyone else. I don't have any new news of course just my own take on the released short trailer and the images that have been released already.

From what I've read so far Halo Legends (updated link from IGN with new trailer?) will be much like Batman: Gotham Night (which I blogged about here) in that it will be a collection of animated short films, in this case seven of them, from a handful of power house anime studios including Bones, Studio 4°C, Production I.G., Casio Entertainment and Toei Animation. Helming this project are some big names as well Frank O'Conner along with Shinji Aramaki and Mamoru Oshii are directing and Joseph Chou is producing. Warner Brothers will be releasing it in early 2010 on what looks like just about every media format that you can think of.

I caught wind of the trailer on Futuba chan of all places before I started seeing news of it pop up on the Otaku blog sphere so I got to see what it looked like before I had any idea of what was going on. There was some that I didn't like like the overly cartoonish look of some scenes and that there was the kid holding the gun to the old lady in the wheel chair but it looks like we'll get a good look at the past of the Halo Universe and a much larger scope of the Halo Universe along with some comedy (I think that's the overly cartoonish part) tossed in.

I have high hopes for it because I liked how they did Batman: Gotham Night and think with those power house anime studios and those people working on it it'll just knock our collective Halo Fanboy socks off. Now before you check out the trailer below I do have one extra thought. I wonder if they are doing this not just for the fans but more as a strategy to help sales of the XBOX360 in Japan since something like this will definitely help sales of the third place console. In any case those with an XBOX360 will be able to enjoy bonus previews of the shows later this year over the Live network. In any case here's the trailer.

The International Sexy Ladies Show

So I found myself with a bit of extra time today at work since the laundry was actually done for a change and thought I'd write a short blog about something that's been bugging me. The International Sexy Ladies Show. What a fantastic idea G4TV but way to ruin a perfectly good idea and here's how.

The idea is to show various video clips of scantily clad women (Sexy Ladies) from around the world doing this or that while a handful of very dull and witty-less comedians "pop-up" on screen at times to add "witty" comments (and to occasionally cover up the naughty bits). Sort of like an x-rated Best Week ever just minus the funny. To be fair they can be funny sometimes, but that's like 10% of the time.

But it's got "Sexy Ladies" that should easily make up for the comedians right. Well you would think so but... I love the Japanese gravure models (of the 4 episodes that I've watched Aki Hoshino has been in them all with different videos each time) part. And there are a few other really good video clips, noticably from the Italian shows but then they toss some really just crap videos at you. To me it seems that the majority of the "Sexy Ladies" videos are older wet and messy videos with honestly more "Not So Sexy Ladies" in the videos, that's already two strikes against the show. The third strike of course is that it's a lot of repetitive stuff the majority of the videos or girls in the shows are the same from episode to episode. There are more gravure idols than Aki after all. If you want to add a fourth strike (like you need it) you can find pretty much better videos on Youtube yourself and save yourself some time and skip the lame comedians in the mean time.

If it were me I'd fix it by getting rid of the onscreen comedians, replace them with one or two very funny guys to add off screen commentary then of course get rid of all the awful '90s wet and messy crap. To make up for all this crap and whining about some show here is a nice little video of my fav gravure idol Aki Hoshino, enjoy and save yourself some time and skip this show, just look it all up on the Internet.

Another weekly review. Don't worry I ordered a new HDD and it shipped out this morning so I should be back to blogging more frequently by the end of the week. Cross your fingers and hope the USPS gets it here soon. So how did another week of no Internet at home work out? Well once again I was pretty productive actually and managed to get a good deal of things done.

I changed out the door knobs for new ones (something that is a must do anytime you get a new place, God only knows how many people have keys to the old locks) painted my room, unpacked a good deal of stuff. Hung up the shower rod and curtain. Organized the garage a bit more and in the middle of all that excitement I got fucking nailed by some lame ass spider on my leg. The first day it hurt like hell to walk and my leg was a nice red swollen fireball and thankfully the swelling and pain have gone away and I'm just dealing with a bit of redness and itching like hell so thankfully what ever spider it was wasn't one that destroys your skin while its at it.

The car is still running pretty good so I'm thrilled about that but it doesn't like starting in the driveway since it's at an incline so that kind of sucks. Of course now it was my roommate's turn at having a car break down and while on a drive on Sunday a small little coolant hose decided to fail. Not a huge fix just a pain in the ass when it decides to fail hundreds of miles away from home. Now I'm just trying to think of any thing else that happened this week that is worth mentioning. And I'm drawing a pretty big blank here actually. I've just been pretty busy getting my part of the house and stuff in order and what not. Oh actually that's something.

No matter what it always seems that when you move you always lose something and sure enough I've lost something. Something I needed this weekend too. I lost my drill bit set of all things. I needed it to drill a whole in my floor to run cat5 cable to the router (can't find it's power supply either) for when I set up my computer we don't have cables running all over the house. Can't find them anywhere and I've dug through everything of mine looking for them not just twice either I've probably gone through all my stuff four time now. I thought I lost some other things as well but like it always does while looking for the drill bits I found that stuff fairly easy. Now I just need to lose something else and I'll find the drill bits right. Anyways I though since I'm rambling on about drill bits I'll toss up an image dealing with the best drill of all right...yes more YOKO!

Finally can take a moment and catch my breath. The last week has been INSANE to say the least. This last week was all about the big move from the house that I've lived (rented) in for the past 7 years to a new house that the roommate purchased. No more landlords no more stinky dog poo and no more crazy rednecks with 11 friggen cats.

The new house is amazing if needing a bit of TLC which for a house as old as I am isn't entirely a bad thing. We have a nice (weed filled at the moment) garden and nice yard and even though it's needs a bit of paint it's SO much better than the house that we were renting.

Still haven't gotten Internet at the house yet but that doesn't really matter as I still have a broken computer anyways and am blogging once again from work. Also this week I had to re-fix the car since the last attempt at fixing the problem didn't work and had to replace the fuel pump on the car. Remind me to NEVER do that again. It was such a pain the ass to do that I never want to do that again. That seems to have fixed the major problem still need to replace the rear brakes and I'm thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the spark plugs and check the coils to make sure they are working right.

So even though moving was a huge PITA and the car was a huge PITA it's all done for the moment and I can relax a little bit and take a breather until we start in on painting the rooms probably this coming weekend. Another good thing is that next month we get another roommate and my bills will be reduced by about $175 dollars a month which will help me out immensely. Can't wait until that happens and I get the room painted and I can actually get all my crap out of boxes. I still think June and July hate me but July is almost over and things are looking up again.

Of course since I don't have the Internet or a computer at home blogging will be slow for a while since I really don't have any time at work anymore to blog or update the hotties of the day and I can't get any new anime episodes either but hopefully I'll have that problem resolved by the end of next week.

I should be enjoying some anime at the moment but instead I'm taking the time to write my weekly review instead thanks to my HDD at home giving up the ghost. That's right my computer is toast at the moment and honestly it couldn't have happened at the worst possible time since my car has also seen fit to shit the bed as well and even though I was 90% that I diagnosed the problem correctly and fixed it this morning apparently that 10% was actually wrong instead since I still have the same problem after probably spending $150 fixing the 90% probability. As I should be looking at it it's just something I don't have to fix later. Oh yeah and did I mention that currently we are planning to move to a new house on Monday and Tuesday and were supposed to have a trailer all last week to pack up and be able to move on Monday. Yeah we still haven't gotten the trailer so I'm pretty damn close to just curling up in a ball and just freak out and I'm sure my roommate is feeling the same way about the move as well but you have to put on a brave face and just move forward with what ever you can and damn if I'm not going to kick June/July's ass to the curb for handing me such a shitty couple of months.

Of course that means I won't be blogging for some time since I won't be working until Thursday (damn I really should have asked for the full week off instead) and I highly doubt I'll have figured out how to fix the car and the computer this week. Then there is the mad dash rush to get everything packed and ready to move and then the whole moving thing. UGH! What a week it's been and what a week it'll be.

Since I missed the July 4th fireworks happy day holiday you'll just have to enjoy the lovely lady in the flag swimsuit today instead. I also won't be updating the hottie/anime hottie of the day either.

Utawarerumono- Lullaby of the Watch Tower

And now back to the anime reviews. This time around it's an OVA from Utawarerumono called Lullaby of the Watch Tower and even though I only watched an episode of the series that this is from I happened across it while cruising around Sankaku Complex and saw their little blurb about the upcoming OVA. Of course they focused on the Fanservice of the show and I do have to admit that it does indeed have a fair bit of nice fanservice. With that of course it piqued my interest a bit so I decided to check it out.

The OVA focuses on Urutori caring for a lost baby and all is a good light hearted affair until the parents come to take the baby back. All hell breaks lose when Urutori takes off with the kid since she's grown attached to the child and doesn't want to give it up. She goes so far as to even attack her friends who came to get her and the child. She does some serious ass kicking until the baby that she is protecting starts to cry which brings her back to reality. With that she decides that the baby should go back to it's original parents and all is back to happy go lucky time.

In addition to the OVA there is also a picture drama that goes along with it that takes place during the same time but shows Urutori telling about how she and her close friend who she had to fight in the OVA became such close friends after getting in a fight when they were younger.

All in all it was a fun little OVA to watch. Nice little bit of fanservice some cute comedy and at the end a good deal of fightin' action to round it all up into a nice little 30 minute adventure into the series. I didn't even realize after watching it that it's actually a three part OVA but I figured I'd blog about it anyways. Now it's off to Netflix to see if they have the series to rent in the mean time how about you check out the preview for the OVA.

Robo Geisha

Lets take a short little break from the anime reviews to look at another feature film from those guys who made The Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police and the upcoming Vampire Girl Vs. Frankenstein Girl. This time around it's a Sci-fi feature called Robo Geisha an equal part Geisha and transforming, sword swinging Robot. And what is that an entire army of Machine Girls in there too! The trailer looks interesting to say the least and even has bleeding buildings (that has to be a first).

If you're a fan of those Japanese gore B-movies like The Machine Girl and Tokyo Gore Police I imagine this will be on your to watch list (it's most definitely on mine) and you more than likely know and understand that the movie will be lite in plot and heavy in bloodletting and insanity so it'll be all good. For those that don't they will of course not understand why you have streams of tears running down your face while you laugh so hard at such a gory movie. Sadly I haven't seen one of their trademark awesome movie posters yet for this movie so instead enjoy the flashscreen from the website.

Enjoy the awesome gorefest trailer.

Hatsukoi Limited

What would those who hated K-on! probably watch? One guess would be Hatsukoi Limited. A Romcom with more fanservice than K-on! but then a lot less than Queen's Blade. It's also much more linear than K-on! and the art style is entirely different. Is it better than K-on! well that's just a matter of opinion and here's my opinion. I liked it just as much as K-on! but for entirely different reasons. K-on! was more sweet moe heartwarming with laughs while Hatsukoi Limited was more like reliving your past as a high school kid with all the ups and downs regarding those first tender love moments. Then it tossed in a decent amount of hijinks and humor and a healthy dose of fanservice moments giving you an entirely different but equally enjoyable anime series compared to K-on!

As I mentioned before Hatsukoi Limited deals with high schoolers and middle schoolers as they deal with their first love crushes. Mostly it's about the middle schoolers though. There are a ton of interesting characters so discussing all their little love triangles would take some time to unravel and explain. And I just don't think I can do that here. Even though it's a lot of romance and love triangles the comedic timing helps keep things lite and interesting. I don't think I could of handled it or liked it nearly as much if it just didn't have the gags and humor that are used to break up the overdose of romance.

I would have to recommend (highly) checking it out, at least a couple episodes. I think it's well worth the time. Even though there is a good deal of fanservice in the show it's amazing how little there is in fanmade fanservice material and it was even ignored by fanservice giant Megami as well. I couldn't believe it when I tried finding an image for this blog just how little there was.

Lastly I have to say Hatsukoi Limited is another series that I would like to see getting licensed for the states I believe it would do pretty well and that way more people could enjoy it as much as I did. I tried finding the ending from the show but I could only find static images with the ending song so you'll have to just enjoy the opening instead.
