Kapamilya Updates

The teleserye starring Judy Ann Santos and Derek Ramsey called "Habang May Buhay" is still working title. It was already changed to "Humingi Ka Sa Langit".

The cast also includes Will Devaughn. Judy Ann plays a nurse who undergoes many challenges here and abroad. Will plays Juday's childhood sweetheart.

Abangan natin ang Humingi Ka Sa Langit later this year sa Primetime Bida.

MORE UPDATES!

1. A Time For Us will be an afternoon teleserye that will replace Ligaw na Bulaklak. ABS-CBN plans to beef up its afternoon programs since GMA has 3 locally made programs compared to ABS-CBN's 2 mexicanovelas. ABS-CBN's El Cuerpo Del Deseo is the No.1 daytime program in the Philippines while GMA's Magdusa Ka is No.1 in Mega Manila

2. Ryan Agoncillo is now filming Pinoy Fear Factor in Argentina. He will be gone in a month. Pinoy Fear Factor will replace Pinoy Dream Academy this September.

3. Eva Fonda is also an afternoon teleserye that will replace El Cuerpo Del Deseo in September or October. This is starring Christine Reyes, Jason Abalos, Baron Geisler, Rustom Padilla and the original Eva Fonda - Ms. Alma Moreno. ABS-CBN is set to compete with GMA's popular afternoon teleseryes in the afternoon.

4. The next Komiks hero is Tiny Tony that will be played by John Prats. Tiny Tony will replace Varga in October.

5. After the success of Lobo, Angel Locsin and Piolo Pascual is now on the last days of filming "Bukidnon" (still a working title) directed by Rory Quintos.

6. Bangs Garcia and Kristine Hermosa will be part of Banana Split. A weekly comedy program that might replace Goin Bulilit but unconfirmed yet.

BANANA SPLIT COMING SOON ON ABS-CBN

Banana Split is a spin-off of ABS-CBN's Goin’ Bananas, a popular sitcom in the 90’s which starred Edgar Mortiz, Johnny Delgado, Al Tantay, Christopher de Leon, and the late Jay Ilagan.

The cast of Banana Split includes Kristine Hermosa, Anne Curtis, Valerie Concepcion, Bangs Garcia, Dianne Medina, Princess Ryan, KoolChx, RR Enriquez, AJ Perez, Lauren Young, and Riza Santos.

Banana Split will be a Sunday sitcom that will replace Goin' Bulilit. But I'm not sure pa. Goin' Bulilit are now replaying thier past episode last night. Since the bulilits are not bulilits anymore maybe the Kapamilya network might give them another show or a teen drama.

New Shows for Primetime Bida Coming This September

There will be 3 shows that will premiere this August on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.

KAHIT ISANG SAGLIT (Formerly called "A Time For Us")

This is starring Jericho Rosales and Carmen Soo. The teleserye was set to air later this year but it was moved this September. This is a co-production of ABS-CBN and Double Vision of Malaysia. The cast also includes Christine Reyes, Christopher De Leon, and Albert Martinez. The teleserye will premiere in September 15, Monday sa Primetime Bida. It will replace The Singing Bee.

The Singing Bee will not be gone for long. It will be back for its second season.

For those who wasn't able to see the trailer on my earlier posts, here is the trailer of Kahit Isang Saglit

The Story:

The story is about a law enforcer (Jericho Rosales) who is in pursuit of a criminal (Albert Martinez) hiding in Malaysia and a wealthy shipping heiress (Carmen Soo) who was driven by desire to find her Filipino father who went back to the Philippines when she was young. The two will cross paths through unexpected circumstances and will be bound by many intrigues surrounding their lives.

I LOVE BETTY LA FEA

We all know that it will premiere on September. This is starring Bea Alonzo, John Lloyd Cruz, Ruffa Gutierrez, Vhong Navarro, Ai Ai Delas Alas, and Alessandra De Rossi and many more.

I Love Betty La Fea will replace My Girl sa Primetime Bida 2 weeks from now.

THREE DADS AND A MOMMY

This new asianovela will premiere probably September 15 and might replace Pinoy Dream Academy and goes head to head with GMA's My Husband's Woman.

This is starring Eugene, a known Korean actress who also appeared in one of the past ABS-CBN asianovelas like Wonderful Life in 2006.

The Story:

Song Na Young and her husband, Jung Sung Min, desperately want a child but her husband is unable to get her pregnant. Her husband's friends decide to help them. But Na Young suddenly loses her husband in an accident and she gives birth to her daughter but does not know which of her husband's friends fathered her child. The father of Na Young's child can either be Han Soo Hyun, Choi Kwang Hee, or Hwang Kyung Tae.

Note: ABS-CBN will convert the names into Filipino/ western names.

Kapamilya News: Annabelle Rama called Dingdong-Marian Concert "Desperate" Act

Annabelle Rama, mother and manager of Kapuso star Richard Gutierrez called the Dingdong-Marian concert "Desperate" act from the people behind the concert when she was interviewed at Gabby Concepcion's concert in Music Museum.

Annabelle's gets even more angry when she was interviewed by Ogie Diaz in his radio program Wow, Ang Showbiz! at DZXL.

Here is Annabelle Rama's statements:
"Ayaw ba nilang makipagkaibigan? Ayaw nilang maki-pag peace. Birthday ni Dingdong Dantes, August 2, at si Marian, August 12. Ano ba 'yan, dong!

Annabelle thank Kapamilya stars who are endorsing "For The First Time" like Aga Mulach, Angel Locsin, Piolo Pascual and Sarah Geronimo.

Richard's contract with GMA will expire next year. Annabelle is currently consulting her lawyers if there is a way not to finish the contract with GMA.

The magic questions are:

WHO IS THAT GMA EXECUTIVE ANNABELLE IS CALLING "DEVIL, INGGITERA AT KONTRABIDA? Is that Wilma Galvante, the Senior Vice President of GMA Network?

IS THIS A SIGN THAT RICHARD GUTIERREZ IS GOING TO BE A KAPAMILYA?

Annabelle Rama Attacks GMA Anew; Sharon Cunata Disappointed With GMA

Richard's mother and talent manager Annabelle Rama attacks GMA Network again in ABS-CBN's Sunday talk show "Sharon". The host herself Sharon Cuneta also expressed disappointment with GMA's move to put Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes concert on the same date with the playdate of Richard Gutierrez ad KC Concepcion movie "For The First Time"

Kapamilya News: "For The First Time" Earns 15 Million on First Day of Showing!

Star Cinema’s estimated first day gross of the KC Concepcion-Richard Gutierrez movie is between P14 million and P15 million.

The figure is definitely huge as other local movies usually earn that amount in 5 to 7 days. The amount is also comparable to the first day gross of Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz‘ movie “A Very Special Love.” Both movies had their grand opening on a rainy day and Star Cinema claims its a shower of blessing or a sign of good luck.

“A Very Special Love” is a certified box-office hit not only because it surpassed P140 million but also it became the talk-of-the-town. The critics loved the movie because it’s well-made, it’s highly entertaining and the actors delivered. The movie, by the way, received the highest grade of “A” from Cinema Evaluation Board.

The same can be said in the Star Cinema movie “For the First Time.” The people who were able to watch it’s grand opening have only good words to say about the movie. They love the chemistry between its lead actors KC and Richard. And you can say that the camera loves both of them because they look great together on screen. And as a bonus, the beautiful sceneries of Greece will leave you breathless.

Although some critics find the execution of the dialogues between KC and Richard a little off, the two each has moments of promise in the acting arena. Richard’s portrayal of a happy-go-lucky playboy is very natural and his acting is quite refined. He is in control. KC, on the other hand, has her “kikay” moments you won’t believe it’s her first time acting in a movie. And who can forget Candy Pangilinan’s funny antics. Although her scenes are limited, she provided a high amount of entertainment value in the movie.

Although following the romantic movie “A Very Special Love” is tough specially for another romantic movie, “For the First Time” has a special appeal on its own. For one, it’s the first time that two treasured possessions from rival networks teamed up. That alone is reason enough to watch the movie.

And if the first batch of people who watched the movie liked it and talk about it, then its bound to be a monster hit that could establish more “firsts” in the movie industry.

"For The First Time" Premiere Night a Big Success, Kapuso and Kapamilya Personalities Present

Kapamilya and Kapuso stars attended the premiere night of For The First Time starring KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez. The star studded premiere night was held yesterday at Cinema 9 and 10 in SM Megamall.

Here are some of the stars who attended the premiere night

KC's Family: Sharon Cuneta, Senator Francis Pangilinan, Elaine Cuneta (KC's lola) and Gabby Concepcion (who watched on cinema 9 of Megamall) The rest of KC's family were in Cinema 10

Richard's Family: Annabelle Rama, Eddie Gutierrez, Ruffa Gutierrez, twin brother Raymond and brothers Rocky, Ramon Christopher and Ritchie Paul

ABS-CBN: Kapamilya Network Chairman and CEO Gabby Lopez, ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio, ABS-CBN Executives Malou Santos, Cory Vidanes, Deo Endrinal and Star Magic head Johnny Manahan.

GMA: Only one GMA Executive attended - Redgie Acuna-Magno, Codename: Asero Executive Producer Carol Reyes and Angie Castrence and Codename: Asero director Mark Reyes.

Kapuso Stars: Richard Gomez, German Moreno, Senator Bong Revilla Jr., JC De Vera, Paolo Paraiso, Rhian Ramos, Michelle and Ehra Madrigal

Kapamilya Stars: Jericho Rosales, Gary Valenciano, Sarah Geronimo, Mariel Rodriguez, Ai Ai Delas Alas, Maja Salvador, and Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno

MY COMMENT:

One thing is noticable. GMA Exexutives are not there. Executives like Wilma Galvante (Charo's counterpart in GMA) and GMA CEO Felipe Gozon (Gabby Lopez counterpart in GMA). If they really support Richard because he is a Kapuso "Superstar" they should be present there.

Are they insecure of Ms. Charo and Sir Gabby Lopez? Oh well... Hehehe!

Basta ako as a Kapamilya I will also support the next movie of KC and Richard kahit GMA Films ang gagawa. Ganun kasi ang Kapamilya, they support each other. Ewan ko lang yung iba... Hehehe!

Congratulations KC and Richard!

G-Dragon's Apology

posted by sooyup on

Big Bang leader GDragon, who has been put under much criticism for wearing a Tshirt printed with words like “I love sex” during Mnet 20’s Choice, has got netizens wondering if he had actually made an official apology for that.

GDragon was on SBS Inkigayo on 24th August together with other Big Bang members. After Big Bang was awarded the Mutizen award, GDragon said, “Thank you and sorry”.

It was said that during the opening of Mnet 20’s Choice, no one noticed the prints on his tshirt as GDragon have had a jacket on, and it was only during the award ceremony when Big Bang went on stage where the prints on the tshirt appeared obvious.

Many netizens and TV viewers expressed concerns on various online noticeboards that this will definitely have some influence especially on the teenagers.

With what GDragon said on SBS Inkigayo, netizens have split opinions. Some felt that this was an official apology while some felt that it was just a simple thank you speech.

On the other hand, a similar case happened last year for GDragon when he drew much attention by wearing a tshirt with the picture of a naked woman printed on it on KBS Music Bank. The shirt is actually one of the products sold in his sister (Kwon Da Mi)’s shopping mall.

Panoz

Time for another round of old pictures, This time it's all about Panoz a little automotive development company out of Georgia (complete with winery and everything) that for a while turned out one of the sweetest lil' roadster available called the AIV Roadster, AIV was short for Aluminum Intensive Vehicle. This of course made for a very lite roadster and mated with a powerful Ford SVT developed V8 breathing life into the car created a very fun and very quick and nimble roadster.

I first laid eyes on them back in 2000 or so when I traveled down to Salt Lake City to visit an Internet buddy and take some pictures or Lamborghinis as the person was the head mechanic at the Lamborghini dealership. When I first saw the AIV Roadster I instantly fell in love with the tiny roadster and just had to photograph it as well. I actually spent more time photographing that roadsters than the Lamborghinis that I went down there to look at and photograph originally.

Of course there are only a few pictures of the Panoz AIV Roadster because back then I was using a 35mm film camera and I had just barely started out photographing cars and wanting to do and learn more. It was a great first time experience of course and I went back a second time only it was sold by then and a new Panoz had shown up. Not nearly as awesome as the AIV Roadster the next generation of Panoz came as the Esperante and at that time was only offered as a convertible. It was alright though totally hand built (including plaque with the builder's names on it, so you knew who to scream at when something went wrong) and different for it's time. So I photographed it as well while I was there shooting more Lamborghinis.

After looking at these old pictures of the AIV Roadster I really wish I could find someone with a good example close by so that I could re-shoot one knowing what I know now about photography so that I could show others just how awesome these AIV Roadsters were in their hay day. So without further ado here are my old pictures of the Panoz AIV Roadster and Esperante. Flickr

This three episode OAV took forever to finish but now that it's done I can tell you that it's a colossal waste of time. Really, I expected great things with the first episode and by the last episode I was like, "I wasted time on this"

Brief Review: So you have the storey of a special police force that uses magic to power man sized power suits and to fire weapons. But using this magic can have adverse effects namely turning the suit wearers into huge monster like beings who crave human flesh and what not. It's not just the police officers who are at risk either other professions also use this magic and suffer the same problems. There are terrorists who like to go around causing problems and well the plot pretty much ends there really. The main character has issues and a history, the police chief of the special unit is working with the terrorist for the whole "if they weren't here we would be out of job and we can control the outcome knowing when things are going to happen" excuse.

The first episode starts out OK doing the whole character building and what not and makes it look like it might just be pretty good. Then the second episode and it's the same thing more character building and what not. Hmmm OK the third and last episode must be epic than. Facepalm. Nope the third and last episode is a lets conveniently tie up the lose ends that we started to sow in the previous episodes and in stead of giving us closure as to the main character's history and back story we'll just have him ride off into the sunset onto another adventure.

My Opinion: Total Freaking Let down, seriously I watched the last episode and just felt like the producers rushed to get it down and out the door that I just felt like I wasted my time on the whole series. I won't be looking for this and hope it doesn't get picked up in the hopes that something cooler gets licensed, oh like say Mnemosyne.

Weekly Review

posted by sooyup on ,

Just a day late because I wanted to get the blogs up about Shakotan Matsuri first so waited for tonight to post my weekly review even though there isn't much to discuss. After all I did the weekly review last week in the middle of the week due to Internet outages at work and I've already blogged about the best thing that happened this last week so what else is there really.

The Olympics! Yes the Olympics finished up this last weekend and while I'm not much of a sports fan I did watch a lot of what was on thanks to working at night. One of the best games that I saw was the women's Beach Volleyball gold medal match. That second set was freaking awesome to watch. And what guy doesn't like watching women's beach Volleyball. I did watch some shooting sports on the Internet as not much if anything was shown on TV and after watching some of it I could see why it was kinda boring to watch. Skeet was fun to watch with the exploding clays. Anyways it was pretty fun to watch some of it here and there and the US came out on top with over all Medals but lost to China in Gold medals. I forgot where I found this picture or even who is in it but those are the Olympic rings and I thought it was a nice picture to use for this post.

An update on my mom's brain cancer. She finished her first round of Chemo this last week or so and has a month off before she has to go back in for more test to see if any more treatments are needed or will even help. I asked about disability and insurance and it looks like it is going to take some time (five months/weeks not sure which) for it to kick in and even then will only pay about half of what my mom was originally making so it's going to be tough going for now. Insurance is also still thankfully there but about tripled in monthly payments to keep it. It's just such a crappy wait and see process but then it got even worse on Friday when my mom had her first seizure. When my sister called me back to tell me how our mom was doing she said she was doing OK and sleeping peacefully so that was good but still scary to hear about. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers again.
I just saw that this was my 100th post on blogger. Just thought that I'd note that.

Cars of Shakotan Matsuri 08

While I was writing the first blog about Shakotan Matsuri I realized that it would be way to long if I went on about the cars as I had a lot more to say so I decided to do two blog entries for Shakotan Matsuri with one focusing on the the cars attending the show. While I wish I could tell you all the winners to be honest not only can I not remember them all they gave out names mostly and I don't know who drives what but for a handful of people so you'll have to forgive me on that part. Again here is the link to all the pictures Flickr for your convenience. The easiest way to do this would be to separate the cars into their respective manufactures including subgroups.
I just found a place that posted the official results of the shows winners so you can pretty much disregard my mubblings about who won as I think I got some wrong but I'm to lazy to fix it right now. Tunerzine

Honda/Acura: There was a huge turn out for Hondas and Acuras from run of the mill Accords to a nice black NSX. There were also some RHD Hondas as well. I saw a CRX RHD and a couple Civics that were RHD. I don't know who the runner up was but the winner for Hondas was a local autox'er that I've met before, at the Treasure Valley Mustang and Ford car show where he also took first place, Jonathan with his nicely sorted out Honda S2000. The other Honda S2000 was entered into the Drift category or else it might have been a tougher time judging the Hondas. The NSX left before judging started otherwise it might have won something also. Although I did get a good laugh at the NSX's driver's big toes which were painted with skull and cross bones.

Mazda: The rotary heads were in good form with a nice sampling of Mazda power from one Miata a handful of various generation RX-7 and my roommate's Turbocharged RX-8. Bandon was able to make it there with a borrowed alternator to show off his three rotary RX-7 followed by much joking about the need for milk. However, the car that won the Mazda trophy was a first generation RX-7 with an engine swap. Leo was runner up (with a nice piston trophy too) with his nicely done red RX-7. Maybe next year Scott.

Nissan/Infinity: Probably the second largest group of cars with everything from a very nice looking original Datsun 240Z to the two RHD Skylines (yet again both are for sale) yet for the most part it was various models of the 240sx that were in the majority. Followed by a handful of 350Zs and Infinity G35s followed by the RHD 300ZX which to be honest I really don't like and yet got some award or another. Ok if he would strip the paint and decals and redo it so that it looked cleaner it wouldn't be so bad. The winner for Nissan was the yellow 350Z and the runner up was the Red with carbon fiber hood (pictured) 350Z. I like that one because of the lil' RQ figurine on his dashboard, it's totally JDM. After taking a look for the first time at those Skylines I still have to say they are pretty meh for the prices they demand but they are interesting to look at. They did gather large groups of onlookers though.

Mitsubishi: Handful of EVO's and an Eclipse (well two if you really count the Eagle Talon) were there. Other than the Dealer EVO X MR there was one other EVO X followed by a very nice looking with lots of kit and shiny go fast parts EVO Pedobear...LOL yes another pedobear EVO. I did finally get a picture of the "V-tec this" Eclipse from the North West Motorfest car show. I don't know who won in this category though.
Subaru: Another group that had only a handful of cars entered but the ones that were there looked really nice but I know hardly anything about the cars other than changing their spark plugs are a HUGE pain in the ass. Later that night I did spy a pretty rare, I think, Forester STI sitting outside the show area. They should have entered the show. Again I don't have a clue who won this group either.

Toyota/Lexus/Scion: I find it rather odd that the two VIP style Lexus sedans didn't even enter the VIP category. There was a couple other Lexus cars there but I didn't get any pictures of them or even looked at them all that closely. There was only a handful of Toyotas again with two Supras an older MR2 and an much older Corolla which showed up much later and I didn't photograph. While the "Fast & Furious" Supra won, I honestly have to say I found a much better looking Supra sitting outside the Show area. I would have hoped that if they had entered they would have won instead. As for the Scions well I guess one of them was featured in the latest Scion commercial so that's cool, just not my cup of tea.

I believe that wraps up my small review of the cars that were at Shakotan Matsuri or atleast it's what I remember about it anyways. Yet again I just want to say that I had a good time meeting new people and seeing some different cars that I haven't seen before and here's to a much bigger and better show next year.

Yoon Eun Hye sings again!

As always, Yoon Eun-hye sure knows how to get people talking.

A recent video clip surfaced online on August 23 of Yoon singing a “Salad song” (which indie-electronica band Humming Urban Stereo first recorded; song below).

The new video showing Yoon Eun-hye singing the upbeat song cheerfully in the recording studio has given rise to speculation of whether this indicates that she’ll be returning to the pop-music scene, after retiring from girl group Baby VOX to pursue acting in 2005. She recently recorded another song for rookie hip-hop group Mighty Mouth, providing vocals for their track “I Love You” — but although she’d denied the possibility of coming back as a singer at that time, the statement hasn’t done much to curb hopeful fan speculation.

Younha's New Image on her new album

posted by sooyup on

What I like about rock(ish) singer Younha is that she hasn’t really had to rely on “image,” at least not in the way that other pop artists have had to build up a publicity whirl around themselves to attract attention and try to distinguish themselves from people from whom they are not actually that distinguishable. It’s not that she doesn’t have an image — everyone’s got one — but Younha’s is based on something I can get behind: strong vocals, killer live performances, and the ability to play musical instruments (while singing, to boot!).

This time she changes up her look — from the slightly punky, youthful urban look of her first album — and goes for a dual “feminine and boyish” take for her upcoming second album. On the just-released images for her album art, she dons both a flowy print dress and a more masculine pantsuit look, both showing a sleeker side than we’ve previously seen from her. It’s different, but she looks great.

Her new album “Someday” is described as encompassing multiple genres: pop ballads, modern rock, prog rock, electronica, and jazz. In keeping with some of her high-profile collaborations (Epik High, Wheesung, Ajoo), she’s got some familiar names on this album, such as the producer of her hit song “Password 486,” Hwang Chan-hee, as well as rapper-songwriter Tablo. Also contributing are singer-songwriter Jo Kyu-chan and jazz pianist Song Young-joo.

The first single, “Telepathy,” gets its television debut on SBS’s Inki Gayo [Popular Music] program on August 31. The album goes on sale on August 28.

This last Saturday was the first ever Shakotan Matsuri held downtown Boise ID. The Shakotan Matsuri (Japanese Lowered Car Festival) is the first car show held here that is only for Japanese manufactured cars. For a first time event there was a large and very nice turn out of cars. There wasn't much there that I didn't like. I for one was happy to see a large and professionally done car show here that wasn't about muscle cars and old school roadsters for a change and I'm definitely looking forward to next years event. As with all things everyone has their own opinion of how things went and since I'm not a paid journalist (I'll gladly accept bribes though) you get my opinion instead of some white washed op-ed piece. So of course I'll bash some things and praise others. So let the bashing and praising begin.

There is actually very little that I didn't like about the show but I do have some creative criticism of how some things went down. First of all the music was a bit to loud I don't like having to scream at my friends in order to talk to them when they are standing three feet away from me. I also think the BBoy Battle thing went on way to long but that might have more to do with my opinion (definitely not my cup of tea) of it more than anything else. But here is something they really should have had for the battle...a freaking stage. More than three people deep and you couldn't even see what was going on. Just an idea for next time guys. Another thing that got me was the MC and his switching back and forth from the "oh this is a family event and I can't say that" to swearing like a it wasn't a family event. As this was a family friendly event even later at night he should have kept it g rated for everyone in attendance. I don't care if you swear but I'm sure the families with the kids probably did. That brings me to my last little quibble they needed more people judging or needed to start judging earlier and maybe a few more categories and awards. I would have liked to see an award based on participant votes.

With all my bashing out of the way all I have left is praise and I have a lot to hand out. I have to say for a first time event this was pretty well sorted out. From what I could see there were only minor hiccups so you have to give the organizers a big pat on the back for putting on a good show. The audience in attendance was all well behaved and for such a diverse group of people that really does deserve some praise even if we all take it for granted here I've heard some horror stories at other shows like this. Of course I need to show some major praise to all the folks who brought out their cars for people to look over and discuss. Without you there just wouldn't be a show.

And about those cars. This is what you really came to read anyways right. There was a large turn out of interesting cars. There was a good number of right hand drive cars including two Skylines (both for sale by the way, actually there were a lot of cars there for sale) a couple different Hondas and a Toyota Supra (who's owner probably watched The Fast and Furious a few to many times in my own opinion) this was a nice change of pace for me as I've only seen one RHD car that wasn't a mail carrier car before. There were two VIP style cars (both Lexus) but odd to me anyways neither of them entered the VIP class. Of course there were gobs of Hondas an assortment of Nissans, Mazdas and Toyotas with a small smattering of Subarus and Mistsubishi cars. All of which were looking nice, there wasn't much in the way of RICER Boy stuff and you could tell that people put in a lot of effort to show off their cars and were having a good time hanging out with fellow car crazy people. That's it for me but you can see all my pictures on Flickr and make you own judgement. Here's to next year being bigger and better.

Baek began her music career in 1999, splashing onto the Korean dance scene with her first album Sorrow. The first single,(Choice), was unusual in that it was one of the first Korean pop songs to feature Latin beats. However, this single proved to be popular and charted very well. She quickly followed this album with a second, Rouge, which came out in April 2000, selling 360,000 copies and cementing her status as one of Korea's most popular female dance artists.

R.I.P. Lee Eon

Model-turned-actor Lee Eon (also spelled Lee Un, most famously of Coffee Prince) has died in a motorcycle accident.

The 27-year-old, born Park Sang-min, was on his way home following the wrap party for KBS’s Strongest Chil Woo early on the morning of August 21. He was riding a motorcycle and ran into the guardrail of the overpass, and is said to have died almost immediately.

The news has shocked everyone; online, netizens are abuzz in disbelief. Just the night before, he had been onscreen in Chil Woo’s finale episode, and the sudden news is, to say the least, startling.

Lee Eon got his start modeling, but shot to mainstream levels of fame when he took on the role of simple-hearted but lovable Min Yub in last year’s Coffee Prince. He followed that with a stint as a cable-TV MC, then returned to dramas with Who Are You? and, most recently, Strongest Chil Woo.

R.I.P. Lee Eon and my condolences to his family and friends.

LATE -- Weekly Review

Holly hanna that's what happens when your Internet goes down. Actually it just went down at work and I've been extremely busy at home this last week that I didn't get a chance at all to blog until today. So yes my weekly review is rather late this week.

So what did happen last week....ummm. I guess it was Fairly boring after all as I don't recall much of it. The only thing that I did do was work on the header image (isn't it fantastic!) and go see the new Star Wars CGI movie The Clone Wars.

So how was The Clone Wars? OK so to start off the crawler yeah it was gone instead we got a crappy narrator synopsis instead. Major major bad idea in my opinion. The crawler is a staple of the Star Wars franchise and to leave it out on a movie. Also bad is that instead of Jarjar for comedy relief we get stupid battledriods with personalities. Yes battledroids with personalities what more could you ask for right. Anyways those where the major problems that I had with this movie yeah the plot and writing are not the best to say the least but this is the start to the cartoon series slated for later this year on Cartoon Network so I'm hoping that it'll get better with time.

Now what did I like about the movie? The battles and there were plenty of them. Oh and the lightsaber duels oh yeah the lightsaber duels. If they just made a show(episode even) with just lightsaber duels that would be just fine by me. Also the detail of the CGI is just freaking amazing. You could see the paint brush texture on the IG-88 droid when it was zoomed in on it's head I thought that was pretty cool.

So my final thoughts are that as a Star Wars geek I liked it well enough to not regret spending my(Jay's) money on the movie. I'm looking forward to the follow up series on Cartoon Network and hope they fix some of the problems in the meantime. If you're a Star Wars fan then yeah you'll enjoy it and if you have kids they'll enjoy it because I'm pretty sure this one was aimed squarely at them and not at the more adult audience. So I say it's definitely worth at least a matinee viewing of it or waiting for it on Cartoon Network as I'm sure the movie will be aired before hand or at least a speedy trip to DVD land for the movie.

My weekly review kind of turned into a The Clone Wars review but hey that's how it goes sometimes. I will tell you that this week I tried to donate plasma on Monday only to find out that I didn't have all the proper paper work and went home and tore my bedroom apart looking for my Social Security Card only to find it in the most obvious of places. So I went back this morning with all the paper work and donated plasma. It's interesting because it really does take 5 freaking long hours to donate plasma on the first time. The rest of the time is like maybe an hour and half long. And hey for an extra $30 in the pocket it's not to bad. I picked up Yen Plus magazine finally with the money but have only read a little bit of it. So yeah with that I'll bring this very late weekly review to an end. Until next week.
